I found a listing of Louisa DeFonso who died in Itasca Co. Apr. 25, 1911. Is she there? Any help would be appreciated.

I did find one listing for a Louisa DeFonso died 25 Apr 1911 in Itasca Co. The list only started in 1908, so the others must have been before that. Can you tell me if Louisa had the parents listed above? Thanks in advance.
I am looking for someone who would do a look-up for me. I am looking for the marriage date of Clarence SJODIN and Alice GILBELYOU. They were married in Hill City (but there is not a marriage certificate in Aitkin Cty) and left for Alaska in Mar of 1935. At that time they had two children with them: one 18 mos and 1 3 mos. So perhaps they were married sometime between 1932-1935? Thank you in advance Muriel MORGAN PFEIFER Muriel MORGAN Pfeifer -- This message was sent using airstreamcomm.net WebMail.

Another site you might want to visit is : http://nmin.ardc.org/counties/stlouis.asp There is a map of St Louis County and names all the towns in St Louis County. The Iron world site is a very good site. There were a number of towns on the Mesabi Range that are no more. The same "towns" actually moved as the mine grew in size. The towns were located on the rims of the mines, so the houses were actually moved to keep up with the mine. A number of those towns are gone now. Have fun searching. I'm the one that has "spoken" (email) to your brother Jason about the Wittstruck genealogy. I was surprised to hear that there were a couple of Wittstrucks up in Canada. When I started this adventure I too never realized how many Wittstrucks there were out there. A few months back I got an email from a Charles Martin Wittstruck who lives in Michigan. I was happy to hear from him as he has the same name as my great-great-grandfather and I had seen his name from time to time browsing around on the internet. Always wondered who he was. I enjoyed hearing from your brother too. I'm always thrilled to meet another Wittstruck! Your brother gave me some info and I think I sent him a copy of everything I have so far. (I have gotten a little more since then) It seems to me he was getting ready to go back to school when we talked. If I didn't send him the info please let me know and give me an address and I'll send it to him. If you would like a copy let me know and I will send it to you too. I see from my notes that you have an aunt Sharon and Beverley and an uncle Duane. I think I've seen these names before but I don't have any info on them such as birth or death dates, names of sposes, childrens names, where they live, etc. I have alot of Wittstruck names that I have on file but can't connect them to their parents. Maybe some of these names belong to your side of the family. If there is any info you could give me to help me with this I would appreciate it. You don't have to give me any birthdates if you are leary of doing so, I understand. I used to live in Omaha, NE and had relatives who lived in Lincoln. I wish I was older when I lived there because I would have made the effort to meet all the Wittstrucks I could. They are an interesting bunch of people. Well, email me if you would like to talk or if there is anything you are curious about. Love to hear from you! Tell Jason I said hi! Take care! Diana (Wittstruck) Thompson [email protected]

I am doing a random search for information on the Wittstruck name. I believe my grandfather was from Minnesota.Wayne Wittstruck. He last lived in Creston, BC, Canada. I recently found out that there was a long line of Wittstrucks and a new found family member (cousin of my grandfather) has been speaking to my brother about her geneology hobby. My family and I recently visited 9 states on a 2 week vacation in April 2003 and made a point of stopping in a small community outside of Lincon NE to take a picture of Wittstruck Road. I also understand that there is a family farm that's over 100 years old. I also stopped at a cemetary near Wittstruck Creek close to Roca, NE. I did not realize that there were so many Wittstrucks out there. Just thought I'd share my adventure. It was a long and exciting trip all the way from Norhtern BC, Canada where I can name all the remaining Wittstruck's on one hand. Colin

Mildred (daughter born in Serbia) was still alive. Her brother Robert was supposed to have been 8 years old and born in Wisconsin. This census shows Luka Plecash as immigrating in 1906 and the wife and daughter in 1909. The 1910 census shows Loui Plecas[s/e?] in Coleraine, Itasca County, Minnesota, ED 63, page 15B. They had 4 children living out of 5 born (though none are listed as living with them). Loui was a saloonkeeper. It appears that they are at a lumber camp. Which may be why none of their children are listed here. This census shows 1906 as Loui immigration year. You should probably try to find all the census records for the family as well as Ivan Petrovic. There are many Petrovic /h names in 1910 Stuntz/Hibbing township Itasca county. I believe Milwaukee may have had a Serbian community. You may wish to try to see if there were obituaries in any ethnic newspapers for the family. They sometimes have more information than English obits of those days. Also if you know the religion of the families, you should post that. There are many churches in Itasca county (and I am sure Greenfield) which had ethnic roots. There is one man who immigrated in 1906 who may be yours. On Ellis Island site, Lovrepak Ante Plecas, age 24, ship Ultonia, port Triest, Austria,Austria-Hungary, residence Pasicina, ethnicity Austrian Dalmatian, arrived May 02, 1906. Pasicina is near Split and Dubrovnik. Good Luck

I am searching for information on my great grandfather LUKAS PLECAS (Louis or Luka Plecash) and his wife SMILJANA PETROVIC (Stella Plecash). Lukas emigrated from Serbia sometime between 1906 and 1908 and I have not been able to find any records of passage (he probably did not go through Ellis Island). His wife Smiljana and their daughter Milka joined him in Bovey, MN in 1909 (they did come through Ellis Island and I have some info on them, not much). Smiljana traveled with a relation IVAN PETROVIC (maybe her brother) who also settled in Bovey. Ivan listed as his "back home contact" his wife Smiljana Petrovic (I think a coincidence that his wife had the same name as his sister/cousin). Lukas and his family spent an unknown amount of time in Bovey, at least a year but likely more than 10, before moving to Wisconsin. While in Bovey they had one son, BOGDAN LUKAS PLECAS (Robert Louis Plecash) in about 1910. It is possible their daughter MILKA (Joyce) died while they still lived in Bovey - this would be c. 1920-1921 (she was a pedestrian hit by an automobile). Whew- can anybody help me find any records that would give me clues to dates, siblings, parents, etc? Thanks in advance! email: [email protected]
