Sounds like the same bunch. Since posting that message, I have found out that the Jacob Edward I am looking for and the Jacob that died in Itasca Co., 1933 are father and son. Jacob Edward was a brother to Ernest. I have been in contact with a grandchild of their brother, John Irvin, and she said that as far as any of her part of the family knew, JE had never married. I am trying to find out more info on this family and possibly find out when and where Jacob Edward Sweedman and Laura Muriel Fish got married. All I have is their divorce decree and a single letter to Laura Muriel from Jacob, John and Ernest's sister Alma. I am also interested in the reports that there have been several more Wait and Eckert marriages into the Sweedman clan in more recent generations. (after Jacob Edward and Laura Muriel got divorced in 1916, she married my great grandfather Orrin Wait and they had 6 children, one of whom is my grandmother. Please email me direct if you are interes! ted in exchanging info.

I inherited all my mothers records, so he has asked me several questions. I just got curious one day and did a search on my grandfather's name to see what would come up. I would be happy to give you any information I have, but I would prefer to take it off the board and do it privately. As most families, there are things better kept within the family and not put out publicly, mostly because they are not so far in the past as to be embarrassing to those still living. E-mail me at [email protected], and I will try to help you. Also, who are your parents? I vaguely remember your grandfather and may know one of your parents. Wilma

My mother was the only surviving child of the union between Parley and Lucy Mamie(Stanley) Colburn. During their marriage, they had 13 children. The oldest, a boy died at the age of 3 from Scarlet Fever. His name may have been William, but I do not know. The other children were either still born or died immediately after birth due to a blood incompatibility. The final child, a boy born in the early 30's was a complete albino with no color pigmentation at all. He and Lucy were married on June 17, 1907. His brother Charles was married to Lucy's sister and were the grandparents of Eileen. I knew Eileen and her brother Wayne when we children but lost all contact with them later. The last time I saw Eileen was in the summer of 1962.

Thanks for replying. Eileen Koehler & Eileen Colburn are the same person. Eileen married Dennis Koehler. When Eileen submitted her family tree to the internet, no spouse was listed for your grandfather Parley, but she listed two children for him, William & Susie. Can I assume one of them are your parents? As there are no children listed for these two people. I would like to contact Eileen if possible and trade facts as I have noticed some conflict, but in all we are of the same family tree. Any assistance you could lend would be appreciated.

I have a copy of "Naturalization Record B-First Papers" for my grandmother. This was issued in Itasca County in 1905. Can someone advise me where to write for the complete naturalization file? Would this be at the County level or State? Also, why would a young woman of that era find it necessary to become naturalized? She had been in the US for nearly 20 years at this time and her father was naturalized already according to the 1900 census. Perhaps she had to be a citizen in her own right to own land or follow her teaching profession? Thank you for any suggestions. Jeanne K Lincoln, CA

Dom is a widower. Dom says he arrived from Italy in 1899 and is naturalized, the rest of the family came from Italy in 1903 and were not citizens yet according to the 1910 census. Also John was working as a laborer at the iron mines. It appears at least Paul stayed in the area as he is in the 1920 census (unmarried) working as a laborer at the mines. There is a Joseph listed as well but the immigration year is hard to read. John Perone is listed at the War Memorial in Chisholm Minnesota. http://www.vets-hall.org/ I hope this helps your search.
