Individual county maps are useful for identifying 1874 transportation routes, railroads, canals, streams and rivers, cities, towns and villages, and early Minnesota place names. One-room schools, churches, cemeteries and other cultural features are also included in the county maps. The city and village plat maps in the Minnesota Atlas are often more detailed with many early property owners identified; industrial sites including a variety of stores, factories and mills; State and local government sites: cemeteries, churches, schools, fair grounds, race tracks, asylum & hospitals; and much more. The high resolution digital map data is presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). and the Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on each CD. Other recent additions to the Historic Atlas Series include the states of Iowa and Wisconsin. Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Missouri CD's are planned for the near future. As you transcribe your census today, take a minute to think about the young men and women on them who were not there for the next one. Although the following link is to a Canadian site, and the majority of my mailing lists are not, I am hoping you will take the time to click and watch. I feel this video has an international message, and hope you do too. http://www.army.gc.ca/chief_land_staff/remembrance/English/home.asp

You should probably contact the county recorder to verify before sending a request or planning a visit.

I think it was Don or something, but I'm not sure. From family stories, this Winkler had a camera and photography store/studio in Chicago, IL during the 1940s and 1950s. My grandfather Joseph married Norma May. His parents were Adolf Graf and Maria (or Mary) Osvald from Hungary (Austria). Not sure if there is a connection on the Winkler end but I guess it's worth a shot.

I had just been reading about him on the internet when I read your message. My grandparents' wedding portrait (a copy) hangs in my house here in San Diego. (My father has the original, and several others.) They were Fred and Maggie Miller, probably about 1908 or so (my dad has exact date). We have always known that it was the "Grace" photographer, but I personally did not know much else. Now some of my cousins and I are writing back and forth about it, to know how many family members actually had portraits taken. Do you know of any other good sources to read about Enstrom's work? Is there an archive somewhere where the public can visit? I have read about Rhoda Nyberg and seen her in articles. I was in Coleraine this summer visiting a variety of places with family members but we didn't go to Bovey. I'll have to go back on a future trip.
