Actually my uncle Brian Carlson now owns the copyright on "Grace" taken in 1918 in Bovey, Minnesota. I grew up seeing "Grace" in my grandparents home every time I went over for dinner and I know the photo has meaning to others too. Uncle Brian gave me and my husband a beautiful picture of "Grace" in a frame with a plaque for our wedding. I think he still does these sometimes on the side if anyone wanted to purchase one for their home. His email address is [email protected] Mindy. Visitors searching ancestors in Itasca County will find a wealth in information at the Itasca Genealogy Club's library located on the top floor of the Bovey City Hall. The club has clipped and indexed vital record newspaper announcements, has copies of death certificates, and has transcribed all cemeteries in the county. They have all of the Scenic Range News on microfilm, plat maps with histories, and a great collection of local history publications. The city hall must be open to access the library, and then one must ask the city clerk or the Bovey Public Library's librarian to unlock the club's library; it is not open on the weekend; it is open to the public. For more information contact the club (they take queries): Itasca Genealogy Club Box 261 Bovey MN [email protected] _______________________________________________ No banners. No pop-ups. No kidding. Only cities have post offices, so if your ancestor lived in "Bovey" they may have lived in a surrounding township, such as Trout Lake. Trout Lake was organized in 1894 --prior to the cities of Coleraine or Bovey. All records are intact at Trout Lake Community Center 24951 Co Rd 10 Bovey MN 55709. The township has two cemeteries, one previously the Norwegian Church's and the other, the Finnish Church's. The clerk/activity director is willing to look up information and/or help with contacts for ancestors in the township. I reside in a town some 20 miles from Grand Rapids, Mn. Personally, I've emailed the Grand Rapids Library reference dept. and made requests of somewhat this nature and they've done look ups. Have you considered that as an option? If that doesn't work, and no one else replies to this request, email me at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> and when I'm in Gr. Rapids next time, I'll do the look up.
