    1. Re: [MNHennep] MNHENNEP Digest, Vol 2, Issue 5 (Broadbent, Robinson, Saville, Baxter)
    2. Hi Susan, Thank you so much for the information. I would love to have obituaries if you could find them. You mentioned that you would be interested in more information on this family. It gets a little complicated because of 2nd marriages, but I will send what I have. I think the Saville's and maybe Baxter's who are connected to the Broadbent's are also in this cemetery and maybe the same plot, but I will start with the immediate Broadbent connection and I can send more of the Saville and Baxter information later. John Broadbent was b. abt 1820, England, d. May 18, 1874, Mpls. He married Mrs. Mary (Jackson) Robinson bef. 1845, England. (His only marriage.) Mary (Jackson Robinson) Broadbent was b. abt 1808, England d. Aug 14, 1880, and was first married Jan 22, 1825 Glossup, Derbyshire, England to William Robinson who may have died in England bef. 1844. Ann J. Broadbent b. abt 1845, England d. Jan 13, 1882, was the dau. of John and Mary (Jackson Robinson) Broadbent. R. H. Broadbent who was mentioned in the cemetery records is Robert H. Broadbent, the only other known child of John and Mary (Jackson Robinson) Broadbent. He was b. July 16, 1848, Palmer / Thorndike, Hampden Co., MA, d. May 22, 1920, Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN is buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Mpls. - His death cert says he was b. in Thorndike. (Thorndike and Palmer are connecting towns.) Charles Broadbent b. abt 1880, MN, d. Apr 22, 1898, was the son of the above Robert H. Broadbent and Elizabeth Richardson. Elizabeth was b. Jan 03, 1853, Indiana, d. Dec 28, 1932, Mpls., buried at Lakewood Cemetery. (He has more siblings if you would like to have them.) Mary (Jackson Robinson) Broadbent is my direct line from her 1st marriage to William Robinson. Children of Mary and William Robinson: (mentioned above) John Robinson bpt. Dec 19, 1825, Glossop, Derbyshire, England Thomas Robinson, bpt. June 02, 1828, Glossop, Derbyshire, England William Robinson, bpt. Sep 06, 1831, Glossop, Derbyshire, England George or Sebrge Robinson, abt. 1835, Glossop, Derbyshire, England Grace Robinson, bpt. July 21, 1835, d. Oct 12, 1895, Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN m. Benjamin Baxter (Grace Robinson was first married to James Saville. Their only surviving child was Charles Saville, b. July 22, 1853 Millbury, Worcester Co., MA d. Aug 07, 1905, Mpls. I think they are both buried in Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery, too. She would be Grace Baxter at her death.) Levi Robinson, bpt. Nov 09, 1837, Glossop, Derbyshire, England Robert Robinson, bpt. Jan 16, 1840, Glossop, Derbyshire, England Thanks again, for all you help! John died on May 18, 1874 from typhoid pneumonia, age 54. No place of death is given other than "Minneapolis." Mary Broadbent died on August 14, 1880, from diarrhea, aged 72 years. She died at 916 South Sixth Street. There are two other Broadbents buried in Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers. They are buried in the same block of graves as John and Mary so are undoubtedly related. Annie Broadbent died on January 13, 1882. Unfortunately, that is the only information that the cemetery has on her. Charles Broadbent died on April 22, 1898, from meningitis, age 18. The head of household at the address where he (and Mary) died is R. H. Broadbent; he was employed as a steamfitter. Not sure whether the Broadbents' grave are marked. I'll take a look through my (many) digital photos and see what I can find. They're not all organized yet, so it may take me a little time. I'll see whether I can find obituaries on any of them. Would love to know what information that you have about them. >>> Lincurrie@aol.com 02/04/07 10:52PM >>> Hello, By chance would there possibly be obits or death records in Minneapolis in 1874 or 1880? I am looking for John Broadbent who died May 18, 1874 and his wife Mary (Jackson Robinson) Broadbent who died Aug 14, 1880. Both are buried in Pioneers & Soldiers Cemetery. Regards, Linda Currie
