Hei Listers, I'm a newbie. I thought that I would get my great grandfather's name in the archives in case anyone is looking for him or his family. Asle KNUDSON was born 19 Jan 1844 in Flaaten, Aal, Buskerud, Norway. His father was Knud Asleson Nygaard and his mother Birgit Knutsdtr Flaaten. When his mother died in 1850, Asle went to live with his uncle Herman. In 1865 he left Norway and arrived in Quebec, Canada. From Quebec, he traveled by train, ferry and boat until he reached the home of his uncle Elling Asleson Foss in Decorah, Iowa. Asle married Synnove (Susan) Fosse in 1866. Three years later, he became a citizen and bought his own farm. Asle and Susan had many children. (Names and dates of birth and death available upon request) One of these children was my grandmother. He became a preacher 1872 and retired in 1910. He died at his home in Minneapolis, MN on 29 Sep 1939. I wish I had known him.
