Dear listers: I am new to this list having just discovered that our AMOR family operated a funeral home in Minneapolis about 1890? to ?1910? James Amor came from Hamilton, Wentworth county, ONtario. He and his parents and siblings had emigrated to Ontario about 1847 from Somerset England. I believe he had a son, GEORGE AMOR, who lived at Minneapolis in 1893 also. , possibly also in the funeral business? I would really appreciate help with a census about 1890 , 1900 or 1910...to determine who lived in the households of: JAMES AMOR [I believe that James died 1918] and /or GEORGE AMOR? James' wife Emma Blachford Amor died at Hamilton 1905 and was living with her daughter at Hamilton in 1901 census. I am wondering about this as when James' father died [John Amor, d. 1893 Hamilton] James' locale is listed as Minneapolis, MN. Looking forward to your replies and assistance, thanks Liz of Canada
This is what I found. The first one may not be the right family, since in the 1900 census James states he had been married for 20 years. Hope this helps. I am not related, I just have a subscription to Ancestry and like to help when I can. 1885 Duluth, St. Louis, MN Territorial Census page 386 1 May 1885 464 Mrs. Amor age 62, born Canada, parents of foreign birth James 30 Canada Dan 25 Canada Cashie 22 Canada (female) F.
