I agree it's not unreasonable to expect some sort of compensation or reimbursement. A charge of $15.00 per obituary (which is what I found available online) seems a bit over "minimum expenses". When I do lookups for someone in the Peoria area I do it when I'm doing my own research. I'm also in the process of doing a online tombstone photo index of a cemetery with over 70,000 interments which is quite time-consuming (only 67,000 more to go...) but am doing it for current and future generations of researchers in the area. My hope was that someone who frequents the library could take a few moments to look them up but I think I'll either pay to get them or plan a trip to Minnesota at some point to find them and perhaps be able to pursue even more information.
