You may want to send your request to those county mailing lists. HOWEVER... that said, there were few, if any, records for births, baptisms and marriages kept in Minnesota in the 1840's. We did not gain statehood until 1858 after the 1857 territorial census indicated there were enough people to qualify for statehood (but we now know that a large number of those folks were fabricated) You may have to research Father Ravoux to find out where he resided and the community he served. I am assuming he was probably a missionary in the St Peter area working with the native population. The historical society in St Peter might have some information on the early settlement there. 3. You might contact the Minnesota Genealogist to see if they might have a record of the Father and his early marriages. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 9:42 PM Subject: Re: [MNHENNEP] Re: Father Augustine Ravoux Marriages 1840`s MN > In a message dated 7/8/03 5:07:46 PM Central Daylight Time, > [email protected] writes: > > > Hi, I`m looking for marriage records of Louis Laramie to Mary Red > > Iron/Ta-Te-Doo-Ta/Tateduta/Red Wind (Several spellings/Sisseton Indian), > > married by > > Father Ravoux about 1842 or 1843 in Mendota(?).
