Well, Michelle when I first met handsome Joe Perron in the cemetery, he tried to tell me he was just a poor farm boy. Ha. My secretary of many years was a Burow who lived on Pilot Knob just down from the Acacia Cemetery - land that the Perron's owned. There was an aborted sale by Ellen (I think that was her name) to a historical Mason, but that deal failed; no more $$, then the Masons bought. The area across the road from the main cemetery and to the east is now the subject of a planned development. The City of Mendota Heights has received more than 300 comments from folks concerned about this project that would destroy a site sacred to the Dakota and important to all Minnesotans. You can look at City and Mendota Mdewakanton web site. Some of the Perrons have Mdewakanton relatives; it is in the census records, etc. The Dakota County web site is awesome and can take you to the plats too.
