For example, The Burr Mortuary (Minneapolis). Would you email the MN Dept of Health via their website, or is there another source? Janet According to a local mortuary, there are no requirements for keeping the records. They are "business" records and not official documents. If a mortuary is bought out or merges with another, then the records may be kept as the funeral home is still in business under a different name. But if they simply close, those records may well eventually be destroyed. You might want to check with the Minnesota Historical Society to see if they have any records from defunct funeral homes, but there would be government office that would maintain them. Jo
