Janet, You could try calling the phone number or contacting the staff by e-mail at the Mortuary Science Section. at the MN Health Dept. http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/hpsc/mortsci/contact.htm E-mail addresses are listed on the site for the Staff. They may be able to help with records from mortuaries that are no longer in business. As Jo said, if the business was just taken over by another company they would have probably kept the records. But if they closed completely hopefully they would have deposited the records with the Historical Soc. or possibly the MN Health Dept. Just a guess, but here's the information I found: Minnesota Department of Health Mortuary Science Section 121 East Seventh Place, Suite 400 P.O. Box 64975 St. Paul, Minnesota 55164-0975 Phone: 651.282.3829 Fax: 651.282.3839 Claudia Schuman - Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/ http://hennbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://fdlbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnscott/index.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet Casmaer" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 7:50 PM Subject: [MNHENNEP] Mortuaries no longer in business > Hi everyone: > > How do you determine where the records for a funeral > home went when the funeral home is no longer in > existence?
