    3. You can find contact info for the Godfrey House at http://www.minnetonka.k12.mn.us/mces/ci/trip/hagh.html The Godfrey House is a project of the Women's Club - members, dressed in period clothing, volunteer as tour guides - but public tours are only available in summer months. One fun exception is near Christmas when the house is decorated and children are invited to bring dolls and teddy bears. It's a fascinating tour - I've taken it 3-4 times. Some of the furnishings were donated by a Godfrey family member. Hope this helps! Shawne FitzGerald

    3. For anyone interested in viewing old panoramic maps this is a great site! View maps of many cities and towns in the entire US from 1847-1929. They show street patterns, individual buildings, and major landscape features in perspective. I've added a link on the Hennepin site as well. http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/pmhtml/panhome.html Claudia Schuman - Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/ http://hennbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://fdlbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnscott/index.htm

    3. You're most welcome, been doing genealogy for over 30 years and for the most part people are very helpful. I had a lady when I first started genealogy that was so utterly rude to me that I'm surprised that I didn't just quit. But I'm a stubborn woman, lol Good luck with your searches. 2. Dear Franki, Jo, Micki, Claudia and M.E., Thank you so much for your help with the Lakewood and Crystal Lake Cemeteries in Minneapolis. My past experiences were with Chicago cemeteries, and they were very unwilling to part with any information. One required a $25 fee! And for only one name. You are very encouraging that I will have better luck at both of the above cemeteries. The Lakewood website is wonderful - found some other family members as well. They have a nice feature that allows you to see plot numbers which helps verify a family connection. You folks are great. Thank you so much for your help. Sounds like I have some homework to do! 3. Mary Perry, Have you checked for their death records to get the exact name of the cemetery? The death indexes for MN are online with a searchable database at http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm There are volunteers on the Hennepin County GenWeb site who do lookups for obituaries and will provide copies of the original death certificates as well. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/ Claudia Schuman - Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/ http://hennbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://fdlbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnscott/index.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Perry" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 07, 2003 6:00 PM Subject: [MNHENNEP] Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery > Good afternoon, > Could someone please tell me who holds the cemetery records for Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery in Hennepin County? > > Searching for information on Frank LUEDTKE and wife Ida [Beise] LUEDTKE both buried in Minnetrista Baptist Cemetery. 1. Re: [MNHENNEP] Cemeteries in Minneapolis
    2. Katherine, Both cemeteries maintain records and have full time staff during the day. In the past they have been very good at copying and providing records. From Crystal Lake I received a copy of the record card which included the information on all persons buried in the (6 person) plot, the date of death (if known) and date of burial for all 6 persons along with the name of the owner of the plot. It does not include what is noted on the gravemarker or even if there is a gravemarker. Lakewood provides similar records for the individual but not of the entire plot. I do not know if they will give the information over the phone, but certainly when I requested it in person they gave it freely without requiring any evidence of who I was or why I wanted the information. Recently I encountered a different situation in Chicago where all they would tell us was where the individual was buried. Any additional information they had was available only with a written request and $10. Strange thing was we couldn't give them the written request and pay the $10, it had to be mailed to them. Seems to me that it was simply for the sake of inconveniencing the individual requesting the records. After all, the clerk pulled the record up and told us what was available on it (they differ in info) and yet we couldn't pay to have it copied while the clerk had it in his hand. So he will have to pull it and copy it at a later date - talk about double work. That said - I don't know if this trend has hit Minneapolis yet, I requested my records from Crystal Lake and Lakewood quite a few years ago. Jo
