    2. Claudia- I would like a lookup of a Mary Bloch, infant that died in 1906. from your book of city directory published death notices. I have a copie of her death card. listed no names of her parents, wounder if there was any other information that could be gleaned from your book. I would appreciate your help, and thanks for doing it, I think her mother was my ancestor Ruby Young, who became Mrs Albion Arnold. I think she had this Mary Boch out of wedlock, while she was attending the University of Minnesota. Let me know what and if anything is there. [email protected]

    3. Hello Iris, I don't know if you're aware that the Death Indexes for all of MN are online from 1907-1996, and if you're not positively sure about the year of death for your grt grandfather, Charles Henneman, I found three Charles Hennemans. Could he possibly have died as late 1918? Here is the listing: HENNEMAN, CHARLES CertID# 1918-MN-030688 Date of Birth: Place of Birth: Mother Maiden Name: not indexed not indexed not indexed Date of Death: 11/05/1918 County of Death: RAMSEY The other two Charles Hennemans died much later. I also have a book called "Deaths listed in the Minneapolis City Directories, 1900-1910" and Charles Henneman wasn't listed in there. If Martha Henneman died in Minnesota in1926, her death should be listed on the index, but I wasn't able to locate her. Maybe the name was misspelled. There also seems to be a problem with the search engine on the site right now as well. It won't allow you to go to the next page. I'm sure they're working on fixing it, and you may have already searched this index before. If not, here's the link http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm Burials for Lakewood Cemetery are also online at www.lakewoodcemetery.com but didn't find the Hennemans on there either. However, again, the name could have been misspelled. If you think there's any possibility that the above Charles might be your grt. grandfather, you can get copies of the original death record, and a copy of his obituary by requesting a lookup from either Sandy Louden or Laura Aaenson whose offers are on the Hennepin County site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/lookup.htm I hope this is helpful, Claudia Schuman - Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/ http://hennbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://fdlbios.tripod.com/index.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnscott/index.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Iris & Rey Fallo" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 25, 2003 12:38 PM Subject: Re: [MNHENNEP] Pioneers & Soldiers Cemetery > Thank you so much for the article Claudia. 1. [MNHENNEP] Robert Jones
    2. Hi listers, This is my first posting here. I'm looking for a Robert Jones who immigrated from Denbigh, Wales in 1898. He married Erna Hermann around 1900 and they moved to Chicago shortly after. Robert died in Chicago in 1914. Based on the 1910 census, he had not become a citizen. Was there a large Welsh population in Minneapolis in the 1890s? Robert went to his cousin but unfortunately I can't read the cousin's name on the ship manifest info on the Ellis Island website. I'm hoping to find him on the 1900 census. Erna was from Hamburg, Germany. Was there a large German population there at that time? Supposedly she was connected with the German royal family. I don't know if it was as a servant or actually a royal family member. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Nora Hopkins FitzGerald

    1. Re: [MNHENNEP] Panoramic maps - thank you
    2. Claudia
    3. Katherine, Glad you found the map site helpful. In case anyone missed the e-mail I sent around about the Panoramic maps, I have a link on the Hennepin County site too under the "History of Hennepin County" button -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/hennepin.htm Also, I just tonight added more links to another newly found site called "History of the Phillips neighborhood" in South Minneapolis. This site has the following resources: Database of Veterans buried at "Pioneer & Soldiers" Cemetery, also known as Layman's Cemetery. 1859-1860 City Directory for Minneapolis and St. Anthony Calendar-- Misc. newspaper articles from the Minneapolis newspaper for January, February and March of 1909. (I'm hoping more years will be added). The Calendar is extremely interesting to read as they contain obituaries, birth & marriage announcements, besides several ads and just general tidbits. Many resident's names and their addresses are listed. Here is one example from January 5, 1909. News article: Rather than hear disparaging remarks made about a girl friend, William Bliss [2202 Portland av S], 20 years old, was drawn into a fight with Martin and Edward Hausinger, brothers, at Washington and Plymouth avenues, Sunday night and badly used up. The Hausinger brothers have been arrested on a charge of assault and battery, and will be arraigned in police court Jan. 7. Mpls. Tribune, January 5, 1909 If you had family that lived in the Phillips neighborhood, or maybe lived there yourself at one time as I did, you'll find this site very interesting, and maybe even find a clue to your family. But, the 1859-1860 City Directory and the Veteran's database is a valuable source for anyone. Here's the direct link http://www.pnn.org/history/index.htm I've also placed a link on the Hennepin site as well. Enjoy!
