If you will give me some details on the Andersons, such as their names, ages, etc., I'll check the 1930 census for you. I don't have a directory, but the census will have the address. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Victoria (Vicki) McCarty" <kbird@whidbey.net> To: <MNHENNEP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 30, 2006 4:35 PM Subject: [MNHEN] 1930 census for Anoka >I haven't done any searching in the 1930 census...wondering if anyone can >offer suggestions. I am searching for living relatives of the following for a friend in Denmark: Catherine Cristine Andreassen who immigrated to Hopkins in the 1880s or so. She had two daughters, Lezzie (SP?) and Maria Andreassen. One of them married an Emil Peterson who lived at 122-6th Avenue N. in Hopkins in 1928. Emil and his wife had the following children: Raymond, Lawrence, Ivan, Muriel, Beatrice and Inez (Mrs. Fred Nelson). Muriel married a man whose last name was Amundson and his first name may have been Milton. Muriel lived at 11706 Bradford Rd. in Hopkins in 1987. If anyone has informaiton about them or their descendants, please contact me. Thank you, Janet Hobbs Johnson

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Annie HANSON and a six year old girl identified only as F. A. H. on the back of the photograph. The photograph was taken at the S. E. Olson Co. Studio in Minneapolis, likely sometime in the 1890's with Annie appearing to be in her 20's or 30's at the time the photograph was taken. I'm guessing that the pair are Mother and daughter; however, I don't know that for sure. I'm hoping to locate someone from this HANSON Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Its of their Golden Wedding anniversary. It was in my great-grandmother's files. They lived in NE and North Mpls. I can scan and send to you if you are a descendent. Tom

Claudia There are 2 cemeteries that have borne the name of Maple Grove. The Brooklyn & Maple Grove Union Cemetery, also known as the American Cemetery, is just south of Highway 81 and just west of Jefferson Highway. If I recall, my mother's uncle told me that his grandparents were buried in the South Maple Grove cemetery, and this is the one where I found them buried. BTW - this cemetery is connected to St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, all enclosed within one fence, but they are 2 separate cemeteries. The other cemetery that has been called Maple Grove Cemetery is actually now known as Rush Creek Cemetery and it is on Territorial Road, north of Highway 81 and west of Elm Creek Park Reserve (probably 2-3 miles). So either one could be what is referred to, but I believe she would be looking for Brooklyn/Maple Grove. Jo In a message dated 7/5/2006 9:16:51 P.M. Patricia, I live in Washington. Maybe I'll call the high school and see if they can do a little checking for me. I'm not a member of Ancestry.com. Is the 1925 book scanned or does it just give the names of students? Hello, Does anyone own or have access to the yearbook for South High School for the years 1926-1930? I'm looking for my grandmother, MYRTLE WALLUM. Thank you, Erin
Hi Claudia, I don't believe there is a cemetery there named "South" Maple Grove either. What is the time period for this cemetery? Now or before the turn of the century? Was this a country cemetery (where someone who lived/died nearby was buried) or was the cemetery associated with a specific religion (where s omeone who attended the church -- no mattter where they lived -- was buried?) Maybe more "speculative" research can uncover the correct cemetery. A guess would be that this term might refer to one of the two early cemeteries located in the southern sections of Maple Grove Township. I believe there was one in Section 11, near the Methodist Church, and one in Section 29, near the Catholic Church. They were there about 1890. Karen Whitmer

All sorts of 'misspellings' occur in early records, which is why researchers have to be dogged in searching, especially in all the on-line indexes. It's also the reason why all the books and lecturers say to consult the original records. In other places in the same register, the father's surname is spelled Fogarty -- just what is the 'correct' spelling?<G> At least in an index, these different spellings all have the same Soundex code and will also show up relatively close together in a printed index, which is definitely not true of the Stableton/Hableton variants. In my own family, I have four baptisms in the same Minnesota River Valley parish by four different priests, varied in their ethnic backgrounds, with the family surname spelled four different ways (at least they all began and ended with the same letters -- it's the ones in between that are different)! I still have that subscription to the Minnesota Genealogical Journal up for grabs, if anyone can offer proof of the mother's surname..... A worse problem than the Stableton/Hableton puzzle is that the baby's father's name appears to be misspelled.
