You can use Westlaw for Appellate court decisions that will tell you where case originated, and you can search Judaical districts for cost and access on earlier record of case.. Google to Minnesota Courts. Older records access is time consuming and very expensive. In Hennepin County some records on microfilm, and some stuff in salt cave far away. Searching old indexes is a real pain- mistakes, book are very heavy, etc. Happy Historical Trails, Robert P. Mosedale Bloodhound Research, P. A. rmosedale@juno.com
I recently was able to search the files in WestLaw (available at just about any legal library). I found some appeals to the MN state supreme court. For example I found Byrnes vs Sexton Minn 1895 (Aug 6, 1895) - 62 Minn 135, 64 N.W. 155. Since this is an appeal how do I find the original lawsuit? Where do I write? Are any of the civil cases index and available via the LDS for the 1860's-1930? Thx Tom

Is there another way I could reach this information? I was born in St. Paul in 1926 and adopted at age of 1 month. My birth parents and my adoptive parents are now all gone. I know the names, birth dates and death dates of my biological parents and have a death certificate for my birth father, who died in Minneapolis. As I knew my birth mother (and her later family), I have personal information on her death and assume I could get a death certificate from California where she died without much trouble. I also have my adoption papers which spell out the information about my birth parents. What I would like is a copy of my original birth certificate. Do you think that is possible? And, if so, where would I write for this information. Thank you very much for your help. -- Helen YOST JOHNSON helen@mindstorm-inc.com RESEARCHING: AMBS/ARNDT/BLATTNER/HAACK/KIEFER/RANARD/WEISHAAR/WOLF/WOLFE/YOST
Hello List It has been quite awhile since I have posted and the initial responses that I received were mixed. Some were encouraging, some were promising, and some were replies just to let me know ones own personal views on the subject of locating my birth parents. For those that did provide some insight, THANK YOU. I have still not came any closer toward my search, I hope to someday at least gain closure before it is too late to ever know who I am. Michelle

I was a ward of the state and my foster parents where both dead and I knew my birth parents where also. So I went to the county court house where I was adopted and got a paper and filled out and they gave it to the judge. He signed the papers for me to get all information. Gladys
Albion D. Arnold was proprietor of Pioneer Hotel at 8 South Second and resided in flat 6 at 1536 Nicollet Avenue in 1909. Further info would involve considerable research. Sorry they weren't of the right age. I have found a lot of good info on those WWI records. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Melnsam123@aol.com> To: <mnhennep@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2006 9:45 PM Subject: Re: [MNHennep] WW! Looks like Thomas Hidley was too young, too. I have found a few who were born in 1900 who sneaked into the draft, but looks like Thomas was too young for that. PS Harold Nolden would be way too young. The draft was about 1917-1918. But I'd be happy to check for Thomas Hidley.
