They lived many years in Hennepin Co. as far back as 1910, maybe even earlier. The closest I can calculate his birth date is anywhere from 1882-1886 in Minnesota (possibly Hennepin Co.). So I can't even order a birth record because I don't know the date. So my next step is to see if I can find a marriage application for them. I THINK they got married in Hennepin Co., and I THINK it was about 1907. So I can't order that either without a date! My questions are: 1) Has anyone seen an actual marriage application from back in the early 1900's? Will it give me their birth dates and parent's names? 2) Is there a way to physically go in and search the files and find them, either in birth or marriage records, and then order an application? I can't reach an actual person on the phone at Vital Records in Hennepin Co. to ask questions. Does anyone have a suggestion for me on this brick wall? Hi Alicia, I went to Classmates.com and found a man who was in the graduating class of 1950 from Excelsior (it was in 1952 that Excelsior and Deephaven consolidated) so I'll contact him tomorrow by phone (he is living in Excelsior) to see if he has any information. I will ask him if he has computer access also. Do you have the names of your dad's siblings? I found a Warren Peterson who graduated in 1942. Do you have the exact date when your dad graduated from Excelsior? We have a Snuffy's restaurant near where I live that has some great photos on a wall which might have that football teams picture. I'll check it out and let you know. Regards, Anne in MN ************************************************** Hi Anne and Todd, My Dad's name is Richard (Dick) Peterson. 3. I live in England. I have in my possession a boxful of photographs of the following HUSBAND family of the States. RUSSELL HUSBAND and his wife, SARAH (COX) HUSBAND, of Columbus, Mississippi, died in the 1990s. They had no children. I had been delving into their U.K. roots for years and had struck up a strong postal friendship with them. A very distant relative sent over the photographs rather than destroy them, hoping that I could find a kind home for them. I wish to pass them on to any U.S. relative who can prove kinship by telling me more facts than I will divulge right now!! I have found the individuals concerned on the various U.S. censuses... Perhaps the line has died out altogether, though it flourishes here in the U.K. THOMAS HUSBAND, left England at some time after the 1881 census. He may have reached the States via Canada. MARRIAGE 1: The photos suggest that he married Ivy K. HUSBAND (-is the letter "K" her maiden name?), and that they had a baby daughter IVY CECILIA HUSBAND on 29 June 1892, - birthplace unknown. However in 1902, a very pretty 10 year old is sending her photo to a Miss Bates (who may have been her teacher??). The studio is S.W.E.M. in Fargo in North Dakota. There is a succession of photos of Ivy Cecilia. The following are those which give us some clues: Ivy Cecilia, perhaps around 1911. (Studio ACME, Grand Forks, N.D.) Ivy Cecilia with a rather nice watch on her left shoulder. (Studio J.(D?Q?) Miller, in Aberdeen, South Dakota) Ivy Cecilia, 20 March 1913, in apparent graduation gear. (Studio in Aberdeen, South Dakota) Ivy Cecilia with her brother(PROBABLY!), RUSSELL HUSBAND in about 1929. 18th October 1952 - she lives in Columbus, Mississippi; (address on back of photo). Undated photo of an elderly Ivy Cecilia, probably with her husband (name unknown) . I would guess that Thomas and Ivy K had also a son PERCY HUSBAND in 1895, who was dead by 1896, soon after which his mother Ivy K. died. MARRIAGE 2: > Thomas' second marriage (to a LUCILE ) produced : 1. THEODORE B. HUSBAND born 1906 S. Dakota: (Perhaps the "B" is the initial of her surname??) 2. BYRON B. HUSBAND born c1907 S. Dakota. There is a photo of a baby (in 1923) who seems to be called ARNOLD HUSBAND. In 1930, both mother Lucile and son Byron are in the state hospital . I contacted that hospital and was not allowed to disocver the outcome of those hospital stays. (However I know that Lucile lived to a ripe old age). They DID however give me some details of apparent relatives/friends and this is why I am contacting this Mn list: "Mrs. Carrie Reed from Minneapolis, Mn was Lucille Husband's Aunt, Great Aunt to Byron. Mrs. A.S. Reid also from Minneapolis, Mn was Lucille Husband's Sister. Mr. Harold Reed from Minneapolis Mn was Lucille Husband's Son, Brother to Byron There is a Mrs. R.M. Reed from Minneapolis, Mn listed as Lucille Husband's niece. Another listing of a friend Mrs. Chas. Pierson San Diego , CA. " 3::RUSSELL HUSBAND (birth before 1929), a much younger half brother for Ivy Cecilia. ? > Russell attended The Stephen D. Lee High School, and was a keen boy scout, gaining his Eagle Scout on 2 Sept 1930 when living in Iowa City. The envelope however is addressed to Columbus, Miss., so perhaps that is when the family moved to Miss. > > Russell left his teenage photo album which contains more clues, one of which is a connection with Camp Nichols, Philippines where brother TED (Theodore) appears to have been a mechanic/pilot; > Finally, a succession of photos of the paterfamilias THOMAS HUSBAND shows that he was in: (-all dates are guessed-) > St Paul, Minnesota around 1892 > Fargo around 1906: > Deadwood, S.D, around 1928: > He died 9 August 1943 in Columbus, Mississippi. > > My aim is to find a home for the box in the U.S.A., not here (though I know many Brit relatives). Sorry for being so long-winded! Best Wishes, Ron Kerrison in U.K.

    3. Your help is needed! Claudia, Jodi and I have started creating a custom search engine for Hennepin County research. We want all the good sites for researching Hennepin County genealogy and local history included in the search engine. We want Hennepin County families with trees/websites online. We want the hard-to-find sites to show up in search results. This won't replace the big search engines or databases at the major genealogy sites. It's like a research shortcut - a quick way to search only Hennepin County-specific sites without getting junk in the results. Our custom search engine works just like "Search this site" - except we can include up to 5000 websites. So far, we have added 2000+ sites. But we know good webpages are still missing. Will you check out the search engine at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnhennep/index2.htm or http://tinyurl.com/27d2a6? If you don't see your good sites or your online families, let us know! Post here or send an email to henngen@gmail.com. Thanks, Shawne PS - Search tips. Use Google search syntax as the site is hosted by Google - e.g. "South High" is more specific than South High. Nice feature: search results show categories on top. Clicking on these may change your search results.
