The key to cleaning cookies is to remember that some cookies are good and should be retained. I subscribe to Ancestry. I also bank on line and buy from Amazon and bid at eBay. I use and keep their cookies. 1. [MNHennep] Hennepin Co. Lookup request - CORBETT/KITCHEN
    2. Susan Hamson
    3. Hi - Is someone available to do a lookup at Hennepin Co. Vital Records for the marriage record of my grandparents. (I am in California) I know very little and don't have exact dates so I can't order specific records. They are: TIMOTHY JAMES CORBETT and NELLIE LUELLA KITCHEN. According to the 1910 U.S. Census for Hennepin Co., their first child, Harriet, was born Jan. 2, 1908 in Mpls., and it says they have been married three years. So I would hope there is a marriage record for them in 1907. I am also looking for Timothy's birth record. According to various census records, and my mom's birth certificate, he could have been born anywhere from 1882-1886 in Minnesota (city unknown). I have ordered a death record for him, but it is strictly a shot in the dark -- Timothy Corbett was common name in that area). Nellie (or Luella) was born in Canada - big country; date unknown, but about 1888. I have found several Nellie Kitchen's there. Some look like good possibilities; I'm working on those. Thanks to anyone who can help. Susan -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.5.446 / Virus Database: 268.18.11/722 - Release Date: 3/14/2007 3:38 PM

It's what used to be Bloomington Township, in the furtherest south part of the county. What you are running into is the arbitrary line called the "Principal Meridian" that runs through Hennepin County. That means that there is a part of Hennepin County to the east which has a different series of township and range numbers than the part that's to the west of it. That meridian in southern Hennepin County matches the county line between Scott and Dakota Counties -- so your family lived to the west of that meridian. Hope this helps! This is a way to check for different spellings. Also gives you a list of neighbors. When evaluating my g-grandfather's naturalization papers, I checked all names in his township and his two witnesses were on the list living in nearby farms. Shawne* *

They lived many years in Hennepin Co. as far back as 1910, maybe even earlier. The closest I can calculate his birth date is anywhere from 1882-1886 in Minnesota (possibly Hennepin Co.). So I can't even order a birth record because I don't know the date. So my next step is to see if I can find a marriage application for them. I THINK they got married in Hennepin Co., and I THINK it was about 1907. So I can't order that either without a date! My questions are: 1) Has anyone seen an actual marriage application from back in the early 1900's? Will it give me their birth dates and parent's names? 2) Is there a way to physically go in and search the files and find them, either in birth or marriage records, and then order an application? I can't reach an actual person on the phone at Vital Records in Hennepin Co. to ask questions. Does anyone have a suggestion for me on this brick wall?
