Hello, I am looking for some obituaries from Minneapolis. I will need someone to look them up for me because I do not live in the area. This is a great website for looking up people, if you know the state, city and high school attended. I found a friend that I went to school with over 45 years ago! We got together in 2002. Fantastic meeting. Bev Carlson of Minneapolis, MN Click here: Classmates - Registration

Hello, I am looking for information on where I might see copies of yearbooks for South High School, or for someone who is able to do a lookup for me. I have in my notes that an uncle graduated from high school there, although I'm not sure that this is accurate information. He was born in 1905 so he could have graduated about 1923, give or take a year or two. His name was Stanley R. Peterson. Thanks, Cheri
My name is Erik Hov. I`m living in Norway ,and I`m looking for descendants of the Ween family who lived in the Minneapolis area. Julius P. Ween was my great great grandfather`s half brother. What I know: Julius Pedersen Ween ,b. 30 Jul 1858 in Os i Østerdalen ,Norway ,died in Minneapolis ,MN 4 may 1940. Came with his wife to USA 1878. He was married to Marit Halsteinsdatter Ween ,born 27 oct 1854 died 10 may 1928 in St. Louis Park ,MN. I`m seeking information about possible descendants of their daughter Dorothea Sorenson ,and 2 grandsons Julius ,and Philip Ween. 1 Dorothea Ween ,born Wisconsin 26 Apr 1881 ,died 15 Mar 1980. Lived in Minneapolis ,and was married to Peter Sorenson. He was dead before 1980. Her last residence 2119-3rd Ave. S. ,Mpls ,MN. 2 Julius Oliver Ween ,born 31 oct 1910 MN ,and died in Minnetonka ,MN 13 jul 1988. He was married to Annie Stradtmann ,born 11 nov 1908 died in Hopkins ,MN 23 Jul 1995. They lived at 3010 Surrey Lane ,Minnetonka in 1966. Julius` brother: 3 Philip H. Ween ,born MN 31 Jan 1913 ,and died in Eden Prairie ,MN 9 Mar 1991. He was married to Lorraine Maxine ,born in MN 31 Jan 1915 ,and died 16 jun 1984 in Eden Prairie ,.Hennepin County. Their address in 1980 was 15908 North Eden Dr. ,Eden Prairie ,MN. The mother of Julius and Philip ,and their sister Marcella Ween was Ida Ween (1879-1966) ,Julius P. Ween`s daughter. Does anyone know this family???? If not...is it possible to get some obituary for these three???.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of The IRELAND Family which was taken in La Porte, Indiana prior to 1890. The photograph is described on the back as "The five IRELAND children" and notes that it was taken prior to the families move in 1890 to Minneapolis. The photograph is of 3 girls and 2 boys ranging in age from about 5-14. I'd guess that the oldest child is a girl, then a boy close in age, and again a boy and girl close in age, and the youngest a girl. I'm hoping to find someone from this IRELAND family so that this wonderful old family photograph can make its way back to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

If you've ever come across an odd occupation in the census for one of your ancestors here is a list archaic occupations. Hi List Members, Looking for any information on the following people. Barney/Benard J. Rohr b.? d.? married to Tillie B. (Schmidt) Rohr b.Nov. 4, 1873 d.July 8, 1952 when visiting Crow Wing County, Lived in Minneapolis, buried Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, Only one daughter known Bernetta M. (Rohr) Jenson b.Oct. 6, 1903 d.Mar 22, 1981 in Anoka, married a man named Jensen, nothing else known of her husband. These people may have lived in other counties around the Twin Cities, so will email several county lists where other relatives of theirs lived. Thanks for any information on these people, Patrick
I was working on a friends genealogy and found a source for the marriage record of her gr.gr. grandparents and to surprise her I sent away for it. When it came it contained no real information except the Bride and Grooms name and ages and county of residence. However, it turned out to be a handwritten letter from the Justice of the Peace saying he had performed the marriage. (this was to report it to the county). I framed it and gave it to her as it was a really nice keepsake. It was dated 1870.
Well the one I got from 1891 did not list witnesses or anything - on either the Application or certificate. It merely stated their ages, who they were married by, and whether they had been married before. They were married in a Lutheran church in Mpls and they didn't have anything like witnesses or parents names recorded either. I think I will order the microfilms of Marriage Applications and Licenses and see what I can find if anything. Tom
My copies came from Steele Co, not Hennipin. But they contain only name of bride and groom, and name of J.P. No witnesses, no ages, no dates other than date of marriage. I searched for years to find it, and though disappointed that there was no other information, I am very pleased to have it. Is it possible there may be other info available, perhaps a return of marriage record to the state? Gena Gates Lally
