    3. I can't tell from your address where you live. In my area, the public libraries subscribe to Ancestry Plus--where you can search the 1920 census index online. --I forget if it's a partial or full index; I know that the index to the 1930 census is supposed to cover all of it. Note: in the 1930 census index, my g-g-aunt is indexed as "Larah." She was Sarah... Good luck! 3. Thank you Claudia, this is my family! Catherine is his mother and the census taker misspelled his sister's married name. It should read Rausch but when you look at the sheets it does look like Rousch. I find his death listed in CA 1963. I am still looking for his father, Martin. I can't imagine where he died. If he legally changed his name then the NARA would probaly have records under that name - and I gather you don't have it. He may not have received a pension for his service in WWI if he wasn't injured. Would there be probate records for his parents and/or siblings that might have listed him? Did he have a wife? Children? This is a real off the wall - but did you try doing a SSDI search using his birthdate and first name (which is probably John or Tom or Bill - LOL)? If you could narrow it down to a handful of people in the states where you think he probably lived/died then you might be able to go from there. Same with the Minnesota Death Index. Although you said he might have died in Milwaukee. They don't have a similar database. Good luck Jo

    3. I'm a little behind... I thought the Ordeman name was familiar for a reason, so I looked through my data. I don't know if this will help or not, but I have a Charlotte Dora Goercke "Lottie" who married Robert Deloss Cummings. Charlotte was born 13 Nov 1862 in Wisconsin, and was the daughter of William Goercke born in Germany and Johanna (Jane) Ordeman born in Germany. She and Robert were married 21 Oct 1877 in Weston, Dunn, Wisconsin. She died on 19 Aug 1909 in Spring Brook, Dunn, Wisconsin and was buried on 24 Aug 1909 in Forest Center Cemetery, Dunn, Wisconsin. She was buried under her maiden name "Goercke" in the Goercke family plot. Dunn County News 26 Aug 1909 After suffering a few hours from a stroke of paralysis, Mrs. R.D. Cummings passed away at the home of Frank Goercke in the town of Spring Brook, last Tuesday at 3 a.m., August 19. The deceased arrived from Seattle, Washington the 1st of July on a visit. She is survived by a husband, 6 children, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Her husband arrived Sunday to be present at the Funeral. The funeral services took place Tuesday 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Center School House. Rev. Harrup officiating and interment made in the town cemetery. I don't have a great deal of information on this family yet, but if you need any research done in Dunn County Wisconsin regarding them, send me an e-mail. ~Shiloh ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 4:32 AM Subject: Re: [MNHENNEP] Family Research ORDEMAN(N) > 1880 census: Menomonee, Dunn, Wisconsin > Ordeman, Gerhart, male, white, 67, married, b. This, I think, is a VERY REASONABLE price--$35.00 for a year subscription. Offered by the Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown CT. I especially like having the 1870 and 1910 census WITH THE indexes!! Also, the scanned books are great! > > If you've never heard of ProQuest/Heritage Quest, here is what it offers: > > ProQuest's HeritageQuest Online & the African American Biographical Database > Access nearly 9,000 family histories, every word searchable, more than 11,000 local histories, also every word searchable, the entire U.S. census except 1900, the U.S. census indexes from 1790 through 1820, 1860, 1870,1890, 1910 and 1920 (15 states), and the African American Biographical Database. > Guidance from HeritageQuest Online on searching books and searching the census. 1. [MNHENNEP] Military Records World War One
    2. DIANE PERKINS
    3. I have a great uncle who served in World War One. The family lost track of him after Dec.1947. I have the place and year of induction and the mustering out dates and places. However the NARA people wrote back that his record could not be found. I did notice that the info I sent NARA was typed by them on the form they returned to me an obvious transcription of what I origianlly sent them. They however had a typo error as they had typed in his birth date as Nov. 11, 2018! My date was Nov. 11, 1898. Someone on one of the lists I belong to in the past had narrated the problme he had getting military records and how he resolved that problem..if he still is on the list could he resend his experience? If you can find a military ID number can a person be tracked without a surname? As amilitary veteran of Worlk War One would he have gotten a small pension? Family history whispers that this gu may have changed his surname. I believe he probably died in the state areas of MN, WI, IO, ILL and most probably in the VA hospital in MIlwaukee. But not having a death date or surname is posing a problem. Any and all suggestions on how to resolve this will be gratefully accepted. TIA Diane __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Unfortunately they don't help in finding ancestors of the persons I mentioned. Nevertheless: Thanks for your efforts. Nikolaus Ordemann

    1. [MNHENNEP] Birth Certificate
    2. Thank you to all you responded about the need to have a request for a birth certificate (especially a dead person). I hope others have also learned from my request. Just 3 weeks before I had requested my uncle's birth certificate and there was no problem!!!! I will send the letter and check back, requesting a NON-CERTIFIED copy of my mother's birth certificate. 1. Re: [MNHENNEP] Brith Certificate Requests
    2. Susanne, I had the same problem when I sent for my mothers birth certificate and since notarizing in my state costs $20.00 it added quite an expense to ordering many certs from MN. I called and found out that you only have to have it notarized if you are requesting a CERTIFIED copy of the birth certificate. If you need the birth certificate for any legal reasons it would need to be certified, otherwise send the form they sent you back in telling them you are requesting a NON-CERTIFIED death certificate. 1. Re: [MNHENNEP] Re: Father Augustine Ravoux Marriages 1840`s MN
    2. Patrick, You may want to research the early records of Church of St. Peter at Mendota (Mendota Heights) for those baptisms. Mass was first said there by Rev.L.Galtier in 1840. He was succeeded in 1844 by Rev.Augustine Ravoux, a missionary among the nomadic Sioux of Minnesota. He resided at St. Peter's until 1857. The St. Peter church records have been filmed by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and are available for research at their Archives. See <www.archspm.org> for more information. There is a charge for research time, but unless these records can be located elsewhere, this may be the only way to locate the information you need. St. Peter's records are on Film Numbers 334 and 335. These include baptisms for Faribault and other distant places, so it's possible they contain events recorded at Traverse des Sioux. Karen Whitmer
