Greetings Candidates, As a previous SC of a state that had to be rebuilt after nearly dying, I was curious if any of our candidates had a similar history that they could draw upon as MNGenWeb climbs the stairs of success? I know Shirley does have some of that experience as we rebuilt MTGenWeb but I wanted to hear from everyone in this matter. Thank you, Karen Becker, Todd and Stearns
Karen, Thank you for the question. Here in California we had a situation in which our State Coordinator became too ill to take care of business. We had a number of County hosts that were not happy with the 'state of affairs' and not only dropped out, but took the County files as well. So we lost a SC and a lot of CC's all within a few months. So, my experience in bringing the State back up to snuff was twofold: As an ASC then, as SC. It took us a good year or so before we had recruited a decent team of CC's who really cared about their Counties and who were willing to work with us. Martha
I would like to weigh in here, too, regarding the question/s that Karen has proposed. It can happen....does happen and it is unfortunate when it does. My position should it happen on my watch, would be to roll up my sleeves and get to work, with the help of any ASCs that are in place. I would certainly encourage and recruit all the CCs to get involved with the reconstruction, also. There is always something that someone can do if they are willing. Most certainly there would be RECOVERY of pages necessary, and/or REBUILDING of those pages that are retrievable, TRANSCRIBING (typing) done by those who are able.....and the list goes on. If there are no bylaws & procedures in place when such a thing happens, then that certainly would generate and should generate discussion by the SC with the CCs & the organization process to get the ball rolling to formulate bylaws, etc. Importantly the reconstruction takes time.....it must be understood that it won't happen overnight. But with caring people behind the project to rebuild IT CAN and WILL TAKE PLACE. Thanks for asking, Karen.
