Karen and all, In 1998 or thereabouts the SC of Georgia went off to France and mostly disappeared. The ASC at the time was in over his head. At least he tried. Too many years ago to remember but at some point he asked me to become ASC of the state, while he took over as acting SC. At some point after that we had a election of two candidates, when I became SC. I decided to appoint regional coordinators to assist in running the project. With 161 counties (159 current and 2 defunct) it was too much for just the previous two persons to manage. I used a map I found that the State tourism department had put together that divided the state into regions. Not all regions were the same size but they roughly have 20 counties or so per region. The RCs were to assist CCs in their region. Some took on state wide special projects. The state page was redesigned at least twice during my tenure. Of course what one person sees as a logical display of a home page and what another one sees is quite different - yet I tried to make such user friendly so that items were grouped together of like kind - so that visitors could go to the area of interest and use the main page only as a table of contents of the site. It's one thing to start from scratch, another to makeover what someone else has created. Around 2000-2001, a committee was formed after the national Bylaws were in place to create a set for Georgia. Having been present at the time the USGenWeb Bylaws were created, the experience in Georgia was nearly identical. I've experienced something similar in Tennessee, but different and much less acrimonious. Thus I would approach such in MNGenWeb carefully. I would be curious how MTGenWeb enhanced the USGenWeb bylaws? Thank you Tim. The biggest addition to the USGW bylaws and recommendations is that some of the recommended portions were made in to bona fide rules for MTGW. There are quite a few national "recommendations" that should become SOP in my personal opinion.
