It supposedly came from a Doctor who offered to innoculate everyone with a "cure" and instead everyone who received it eventually died of smallpox that year. However, it was not reported by the locals. They kept this a big secret and did not spread the fact that Smallpox was in Faibault. Several of my great grandmother's family who received this treatment died this way. However, the ones that did not lived. Interesting...
