    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iIB.2ACI/917.6 Message Board Post: Curiosity has the better of me and decided to write. The name Fromdal/Fromdahl is one that I am familiar with. There were 4 known brothers that emigrated from the farm Frondal, Aurland parish, Sogn, Norway: 1) Ivar Jonsen Frondal (born 1804) emigrated with his family in 1854. I did have some notes on this branch but can not locate them at the present. 2) Johannes Jonsen/Johnson Fromdal (24 Nov. 1808 - 23 Feb. 1906) settled in the Tn. Otsego, Columbia Co., Wis c. 1858. There were 10 known children. 3) Jon (John) Jonsen/Johnson Fromdal (9 Mar. 1817 - 2 Dec. 1898) emigrated c. 1845, settling in Tn. Otsego, Columbia Co., Wis. There were also 10 known children in this family. 4) Ole Jonsen/Johnson Fromdal (6 June 1822 - 4 Jan. 1913) He was married but w/o children and is buried in the same cemetery as his brothers Jon & Johannes. Butler (Botolf J) Fromdal (born 1838) was the son of Johannes J Fromdal and did serve in the Civil War. You were searching for a 'William' Fr! omdal that was born in Wisconsin. William was not a name familiar to this family and wonder if you have further information. The name Fromdal does appear on the older cemetery markers but most of the family used the name Johnson which adds to the confusion. I do remember hearing that there were relatives of the Frondal/Fromdal/Fromdahl family that were in the Minnesota-Dakota areas. I hope this will be of some help.
