    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: SWEET Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iIB.2ACI/948 Message Board Post: Would love to know more about one Alvin B. (possibly stands for Burroughs) SWEET, b. in NY State 1815-1817. Lived in Vernon Twp. Faribault County, MN in June of 1860 - with wife, Harriett (age 32), dtr. Weltha, sons Worth and Leland (?), dtr. Alice, and sons, Alvin and Charles Sweet. We believe Alvin B. Sweet was involved in the Patriot War of 1837-1838 at the Battle of Windmill on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence River between N. Y. State and Ontario, CAN. The English Crown took Alvin and many others to trial, executing several, and sending scores of others to Van Dieman's Land in Tasmania for imprisonment. We believe the Alvin B. Sweet who appears on the MN 1860 Census was the same Alvin B. Sweet who returned to the United States via the ship, the Buffalo, in 1844. He may have first settled in Ohio, then Wisconsin, and then MN. Would really appreciate any facts about date of death and where buried -- or any other information available on the Alvin B. Sweet who lived in MN n 1860. It would be fabulous to learn the identity of his parents (on death certificate). Would sincerely appreciate hearing from descendants. The Patriot War of 1837-38 was a little known, but very interesting episode and one can learn more by going to my website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~twigs2000/pa-index.html Thank you for any help or suggestions you can give me.
