    1. Re: [MNFARIBA] Dell Lutheran Church location

    3. I have also walked the cemetery at Dell Lutheran Church. Many, Many of the stones are missing or, perhaps, buried under years of wind and weather. The church does not have a book or a list showing who is buried there. I was told by the pastor..if anyone has one, would LOVE to get a copy. The Emerald Lutheran Church, now in the town of Frost, was part of Dell Lutheran...not sure of that history exactly. I do have a copy of some of the early history of the Dell Church. Ann - One of my great uncles was married to a Bottelson. I think it was Martin Hovland. You are right, they did come from Sogn og Fjorde...the Hovlands, the Legrieds - Hatlebergs- and many others in Emerald and Brush Creek area. I was very forunate to have visited these farms in 1999 when I joined the Valdres Samband to a trip to Norway. Jens and Kari Olson (emigrated from western Norway - Sveio and Utbjøe...Hordaland) helped start the Dell Church. Their names are in the early church book of Dells. One of Jens daughters married a Amundson. So they would be my cousins, I guess! I have family buried at the North Blue Earth church (Hovlands) and South Blue Earth Church...Cora and Eddie Kallestad (am I spelling that right?) Most of their children are buried in South Blue Earth. I do have a lot of this family history. This branch trails off to the Amundson's..Joe Kallestad told me some of the Amundson's were his double cousins...from both sides of the family tree. I am very interested in filling in my blanks from you and I am interested in sharing any information I have. I am leaving here on Saturday a.m. on vacation and am going to step in the tracks of my English ancestors. Always another trail to trek!! Gayle Baldwin Struska (Joe Kallestad and Hovland's 2nd cousins and more). Linda, there is a sign by the correct road...if I remember right...the road is gravel, coming off I90 going south, it is on the left...you will go around a curve...and lo and behold!! there it is. It is a new church because I think the old one burned (I have toured so many churches...I will have to double check my notes). If you are interested in the Emerald Cemetery...keep going south...and you will see a sign pointing to the right...it is on the top of a hill. And if you keep going south you will come into Frost..and the church is in town. Easy to find. I have done a lot of research at the Blue Earth Courthouse and they are very helpful...they know every name, I'm sure. It was so much to fun to do research there. I am hoping I can get back there before the snow flies. So many have passed away of my part of the family that I knew, so it is not quite as much fun as it used to be to go visit. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 12:07 AM Subject: Re: [MNFARIBA] Dell Lutheran Church location > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: AbbyDawg > Surnames: Amundson > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.faribault/684.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am related to many of the Amundsons buried at the Dell Cemetery.
