    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bacon, Howe Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iIB.2ACI/921 Message Board Post: Seeking any and all information on the following family. Samuel Bacon, b. March 1832, New York (parents both born Vermont) married Frances Unknown, b. May 1838, New York (both parents born New York). He died September 15, 1906, Faribault County, MN. She appears in 1910 census in Winnebago, Faribault County and must die after that (April 1910). 1880 census lists adopted children: Orin, b. July 1855, Green Co., Wisconsin (month, year and state from 1900 census, county from selective service registration cards of sons), d. December 20, 1926, Faribault County, MN. Wife is Mary Unknown, b. August 1857, Wisconsin. Census lists his birth state as Wisconsin and that of both parents as New York (not sure whether this is natural or adoptive parents). Most records I find, prior to death, place Orin in Nashville Township (and later Truman), Martin County, Minnesota. Susie, b. ca 1866, MN, m. Charles Howe. She died January 22, 1909, Faribault County, MN. He d. May 2, 1948, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both are buried at the Methodist Church Cemetery in Winnebago, Faribault County, MN. Census lists birth state of Susie as Minn. and that of parents as England and New York. I would especially like to find or know where to look for: 1. Last name of Frances, wife of Samuel Bacon and her death place/date. 2. Last name of Mary, wife of Orin Bacon and her death place/date. 3. Where I might find/look for obituaries for Samuel Bacon, d. 9/15/1906; Susie Howe, d. 1/22/1909, and Orin Bacon, d. 12/20/1926, all in Faribault County, MN.

I believe she is the sister of my ggg grandfather, Abram Gault. His records all burned when the county courthouse burned in Dodge Co., WI. My hope is to find the name of the parents. Nancy is living with her son in 1900 in Shelby, Blue Earth Co., MN. There are no death records for her in that county though she is buried in Shelby. Nancy is 87 years old in 1900. I am assuming she died shortly after that time. Her son's name was Allen Benjamin Merrell, her husband's name was Zenus Allen Merrell. Any assistance will be most appreciated. Karen

Did find out that Matthew Hoffman is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth, so it was Mr. Hoffman that died in 1902 (The funeral that Valintine Katzung went to). I still don't have a full date of death, but know it was the end of March or beginning of June. The date of the article about Valentine going to the funeral was June 12, 1902. Hopefully, someday, I'll find the obit of Matthew Hoffman, and it will provide some more clues! Thanks Again! Skip

Surnames: Katzung, Eberlein, Hofman, Hoffman, Hofmann, Hoffmann Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iIB.2ACI/918 Message Board Post: Hi, I'm trying to track down a Matthew Hoffman & family - who I believe is related to me. In the 1860 Census he was living in Winnebago Co., IL with Joseph Katzung, Anna (Hoffman) Katzung - wife, and children Edward, Valentin, and Benjamin Katzung. Matthew was 20 years old at the time, so would be of an age to be a nephew of Anna (Hoffman) Katzung. In the 1880 Census, in Blue Earth, Faribault Co., MN was a Matthew Hoffman, with wife Catharine, and son Charles E. Hoffman. Age in this census is 39. If both of these Matthew's are the same person, he would have been born in 1840 - 1841. (These are the only 2 census records I have of him - have not had access to other years) In the late 1800's, Valentin Katzung applied for a Civil War Pension. One of the witnesses who supplied a statement was a Matthew Hoffmann. A long time ago, while in Blue Earth researching the Katzung and Eberlein families, I found the following newspaper article: Faribault County Register June 12 1902 Valentine Katzung of Mansfield was in Blue Earth last week attending the funeral of Mr. Hoffman and visiting his brother E. Katzung. I am looking for someone who might be able to look up death records from the end of May to the beginning of June 1902 for who Mr. Hoffman was. Also looking for someone who can look for the obit of Mr. Hoffman, once a date of death is located. Thank-you for any help / advise! Skip Murray Brainerd, MN

Of course the children shown as "step" children with the Evig family continues to make me curoius. I have ordered the death certificate for my ancestor, John Wm Fromdahl to see if his parents are listed there. Once again-thank you to the message board!
