Goodwin and his wife Elizabeth R. (Smith) Goodwin. Benjamin was born abt. 1839 in Michigan. His family then moved to Manitowoc County area. He became a soldier in Company E 14th Regiment Wisconsin Infantry and mustered out as a Lieutenant. He married Elizabeth R. Smith, daughter of Daniel Smith. Elizabeth was born April 1842 in New York. The couple had three children. Arthur B. born June 1867 in Wisconsin Grace C. born June 1874 in Minnesota and another child that was born and died prior to 1900 and did not appear on the 1900 census. Benjamin died in 1898. Elizabeth in 1909. Both are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Verona Township, Fairbault County. Elizabeth's father was the founder of Mishicot, Manitowoc Wisconsin settling there in 1844. I would be very interested in any family photos that could be included in a pictorial of the Smith family life at the Mishicot Museum and any other tidbits anyone can share. Are there any history books of the area that may have included them in where I could find more information. Thank you in advance for your time. Ellen-

I'm trying to find out the maiden name of Elizabeth w/o Thomas Mellinger. Info I have is that her father was Belgian. I have the parents of Thomas Mellinger. Thomas was born in Iowa. After 1900, family moved to Buchanan Co MO. Census data shows that Elizabeth was born in Minnesota and that her father was French/Belgian and her mother born in Wisconsin. Have you tried the Dalby Database. Good information.
Yeah, he did the cemetery work for Steele, Rice and at least some of Waseca County. He did a ton of work there. But the Faribault County cemetery surveying came from Diane Oldfather. She gave it to "us" (all the Faribault Co. researchers) for the Faribault site. I think John Dalby got a copy of Diane's work from the MN Genealogical Society. The main benefit to John getting a copy of everybody else's work is that you can search multiple counties with one query. I just wish he'd give Diane (who is now deceased), and all the other volunteers credit, for all the work *they* did. Still, it's great to see the work in one place - that helps researchers. Surnames: Haight, Kelley/Kelly, Wing Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iIB.2ACI/971 Message Board Post: Hello, how is the Haight family research progressing? My name is Ken Kelly. Permelia Haight was married to Joseph Kelley. They're buried in Wells MN. She was from NY. He was from PA. They were married in Armstrong Co PA. Do you find her parents to be Benjamin Haight and Phoebe Ruff? I found on line that the Haight family was from Dutchess Co NY. They moved to Jefferson Co PA. Amanda Haight Wing is buried in Faribault Co MN, as is Nelson Haight, correct? Other children appear to be James (buried in Cortland NY), Joel and Ambrose who apparently are buried in Jefferson Co PA. The Kelley's lived in various places in PA before moving to Faribault Co MN after the Civil War. I assume that Permelia Haight is part of this branch of the Haight Family Tree. Can you confirm this for me? I look forward to receiving an E-mail from anyone with information at your earliest convenience. Thank you very much for any assistance. Respectfully, Ken Kelly, Jr. <[email protected]>
