Author: rensink Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.faribault/1586.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I searched the 1930 US census for the names of the players in the second photo. Found Donald Lindeman (b. 1927), Warren R Salley (b. 1925), Donald B Flo (b. 1925), and Harlan E Johnson (b. 1927). All are living with their families in Faribault County, in or near Bricelyn. From their birth dates it seems apparent that they were in high school starting in about 1940, so I would estimate that the picture was taken in the early 1940's and probably no later than 1945. She married Joseph Epland on February 2, 1902 at St. John the Baptist Parish in Minnesota Lake, Faribault, Minnesota. I'm doing a search on her grandparents: George Hasher b. 28 Apr 1816 in Alsace, France d. 14 Jul 1886 in Danville, Blue Earth, Minnesota, USA Angeline (Bower) Hasher b. 18 Jan 1822 in Lorraine, France d. 26 Jan 1906 in Danville, Blue Earth, Minnesota, USA George Hasher arrived in New York on the Brig Dido on May 20, 1837 from Alsace, France; Angeline also arrived in 1837, but I don't know if she was on the same ship. They married in 1839 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and lived there to about 1853, then from 1853-1864 lived in Brothertown, Calumet, Wisconsin, then from 1864 onward lived in Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Author: victormalecha Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.faribault/89.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My name is Victor Malecha, I live in Brasilia Brazil Maybe you could give me a hand, I am looking to find relatives of my grandfather, also find documents of my grandfather that I can take the dual nationality, but have not found much, anything that can help me a lot and I have managed to find the internet. As my grandfather died when I was only 1 year, not had any contact with him and my grandmother died when I was 8 years, then my mother who has contact me some things and my aunts (sisters of my grandmother). My grandfather called Joseph Malecha (which is written in the portfolio of foreign), I think it was in Polish Jozef, and not really know how malecha is in Polish. He was born on 19/02/1904 , my mother thinks was in the city of Gdansk . He did not want to lose his Polish nationality. It came to Brazil with 17 years (but my mother has no say in that year was, does not know if he came here with 17 years or if the left Poland with 17 years, thought it would be between 1921 to 1923) for the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (but do not know, which city he left, if it came directly to the Rio de Janeiro or if landed at another port and came to Rio de Janeiro), and Rio served as master-of-works. Marriage with my grandmother Hertha Klein (Austrian), and had two children Mario Malecha and Monica Malecha (my mother). His parents were called Ignacy Malecha and Cecylia Malecha, and he had 10 more brothers. So I have a lot of relatives in Poland . But I tried to look at sites for genealogy, and others, and not find anything. He returned to visit Poland in the year 1966, my mother thinks that was an aircraft cargo or cargo ship. It was about 3 months. I do a query on the Consulate of Poland in Rio de Janeiro , to see if they find some documentation, but they have not answered me. These information that I have, if you can help me on something, find relatives, sites that can help me, in fact anything. Since already grateful. Sincerely, Victor Malecha Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: l_ostrich Surnames: Grunzke, Abraham Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.faribault/1583.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you so much for your effort. I searched in vain for the 1900 census. That is Frank & Hattie [Abraham] Grunzke, probably not the parents, Hattie would have been 13 at his birth. And if Fredrick & Mary were his grandparents, then August and Amelia [in 1905] were his aunt & uncle. The online death index lists Abraham as his mother's maiden name; and a family tree on ancestry.com lists him as the child of Anna Grunske [dau of Frederick & Mary and sister of Frank], though her maiden name was not Abraham, she married an Abraham. Is this confusing enough? I did call the recorders office & was told they will do a free birth cert lookup if I send the request in writing, which I shall do. Thanks again for your efforts! Author: bethrau1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.faribault/1583.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Have you sent for his 1957 death certificate? Here is a link to the Faribault County genweb site, run by volunteers. There is a lookup volunteer for the birth index beginning in 1870: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnfariba/index.htm I believe this is "your" Joseph in 1905: 1905 MN Faribault County, Dunbar. This enumeration is not separated into households, instead each individual is listed on a separate line. August E. GRUNZKE, age 36, and Amelia, age 35 have several children listed after them: Hulda, William Henry, and Oscar, age 2. The next line is GRUNZKE, Joseph, age 17, working as a farm laborer. His length of residence in Dunbar in 1905 is listed as 8 years, 3 months. August and Amelia lived there 11 years, 1 month. This tells us Joseph is most likely NOT their son. I don't find any other adults with the name of Grunzke living in Dunbar for 8 years, 3 months (I checked exact spelling only due to time constraints). This length of residence doesn't seem to be correct, because he is not found in Dunbar in 1900. What about this entry in the 1900 census? Faribault County, Minnesota Lake, enumeration district 92, 46 B, sheet 1. The transcriber wrote GEENKE, but I think it is GRUNZKE or similar... [a little difficult to read, transcribed as best as I can] begins line 87, household #18 GRUNZKE? Frederick, head, Oct. 1830, born Germany, emigrated 1854, farmer. ---Mary, wife, May 1832, married 43 years, 9 children, 7 still living, born Germany, emigrated 1856. GRUNZKE, Frank, son, March, 1872, 28, born Minnesota, farmer. --- Kattie? A, daughter in law, Oct. 1874, 25, married 3 years, 1 child, born Minnesota. --- Walter, grandson, August 1898, 1, Minnesota. --- Joseph, grandson, June 1887, 12, born Minnesota, at school. ============================== Hmmm... I guess the 1900 census makes it clear that the Joseph listed is not the son of Frank and Kattie, because of his age, their length of marriage, and Kattie's statement she has only had one child... I think your best bet is to send for a death certificate, find an obit (I checked NewspaperArchive.com and didn't find 1957 newspapaer accounts for GRUNZKE for that area), and / or send for a microfilm of the newspaper from that area so you can read the obituary yourself. Good luck Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
