A couple of other thoughts - check your area libraries to see if they have Ancestry Library Edition available for use in the library. I haven't tried it (yet) to see what the differences are vs the individual subscription but it could be helpful. Also the MN Genealogical Society http://mngs.org/ has a statewide cemetery project under Resources - it looks like Morrison County Historical Society may have some cemetery transcriptions. I believe that the 1906 date is just the date of when the STATE began to keep the records on a state level, since I do know that Faribault Co has death records starting about 1880 (I think. It is close to that date, anyway). I grew up in Fari. Co, and spent many afternoons in the county courthouse recorder's office looking up records, when I'd travel back to visit. Since you have birth/death dates on your Baldwins, perhaps you can request a record directly: Faribault Co Recorder's Office, 415 No. Main, Blue Earth MN 56013. (this is the TOWN of Blue Earth, not the county of Blue Earth.) Also, just in case the Baldwins did not die in Faribault County....for example, if they moved to Mankato MN with their dau, Mary (didn't she and husb move there?....then they could have died in Blue Earth County, where Mankato is the county seat. (As you can see, town of Blue Earth is not in Blue Earth County....why did they do that stuff, anyway?). Blue Earth County is just north of Faribault County, so it's a possibility. And I know the death records existed in Mankato by 1891, because I found my gr-gr-gr-grandmother's 1891 death record there a couple years ago. Have you traveled to Wells and seen the graves of your Baldwins? Margaret P.S. Oops...I think I had the children of Egbert Baldwin mixed up. Most of the information I already had; it's the generation back that escapes me. However, you did have marriage dates on Alice Andrews and John Burke that was missing from my records so that's fabulous. Alice was the daughter of my Robert Andrews, sister of Charles (my g-grandfather). I've never pursued that line but perhaps I should work on the Burkes, I might find some clues in some of their records. Anyway, I do appreciate your efforts. A huge portion of my best genealogy data, and all my brick walls have come down, due to the generosity of other researchers. Someday I'm going to bring down these brick walls too. I don't know if I really have any clues for you or not. None of the specific names you are researching are mentioned in the book. The only bio. sketch on a BALDWIN was John Baldwin of Jackson Co, born 1844 Ontario, and within the bio I couldn't find any connections with your list of names. When I looked in the 1870 and 1880 censuses I could find your Egbert BALDWIN, enumerated in the Wells, Faribault Co MN area (which I'm sure you already know). So I figured that your family must have settled in that area. Then I found that there was a one-line mention of a Robert Andrews (common name, so who knows if he is yours) within another bio of a person from Wells MN. In a bio on John P. BURKE, the following is stated: "Mr. Burke was married June 25, 1876, to Alice E. Andrews, daughter of Robert Andrews." [Mr. Burke had come to Wells by 1869-70, so Alice most likely lived there also.] A huge stretch I know, and maybe there's no new data here for you, since it only mentions Robert ANDREWS' name once here. I then looked at the 1860 US census for Wonewoc, Juneau Co Wisconsin (since the 1900 census listed your Charles N. Andrews as being born in WI; and found Robert Andrews with wife Sarah, and two children: Charles (your Charles Nathaniel?) and Alice (the one who married Mr. Burke?). So, possibly the Robert Andrews mentioned in the Burke bio is actually your fellow. And I see that this family is in Wells in the 1870 census. Expect all of this may be old news to you. However, every small piece/clue sometimes is the breakthrough. Good luck as you continue. Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The book is biographical sketches of various residents, most likely written by the subjects themselves, and submitted to the book. There is a bio on a John EVANS of Lura Twp., Faribault County, and a little information on his wife's family: "....On the 10th of October, 1858, Mr. EVANS married Miss Maria OWENS, daughter of William and Elizabeth (EVANS) OWENS. The lady was born in Liverpool, England, August 29, 1834, and is the youngest of nine children, three sons and six daughters, of whom only two survive, --Mrs. EVANS, and Margaret, widow of James BEARD, who came from Manchester, England, and married Miss OWENS in New York in 1838. They had five children, four living: Owen James, a farmer of Prescott Twp; Harrietta, wife of Griffith M. JONES, of Blue Earth city, Minnesota; Mary, wife of Frederick DOLLIVER, who is living in northern Iowa; and Anna, wife of Edward DOLLIVER, who is also living in Iowa. The parents of Mrs. EVANS emigrated to America in 1844, locating first in Syracuse, New York, and then removing to Rochester, that state, whence they went to Green Lake County, Wisconsin, in 1848. Mr. OWENS ereated a frame house in the village of Kingston, and there the father died at the age of seventy-four.! His wife came with the family to Minnesota in 1865. She was a native of Wales, and died in Lura Twp., at the advanced age of eighty-four, her remains being interred in Lura cemetery." It looks like this book has the DOLLIVER brothers and their wives' names flip-flopped. These old books are not always accurate, since they are written from people's memories, etc. I am not sure who you are hoping to connect, and whether this info has anything to help you, but I'm sending it in case it gives you any clues to work on. I'm not related, just checking the Faribault Co message board, since I grew up there. Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
