    1. [MNDAKOTA] WWII Death Casualty
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Jacobsen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UGB.2ACE/628 Message Board Post: Would like more information on a Dakota County veteran who died in Italy during WWII. Would like to know the Battery of the 175th Field Artillery to which Jacob E. Jacobsen was assigned when he died on May 14, 1944. Jacobsen (Army Serial Number 37 026 560) was serving as a staff sergeant (S/Sgt.) with the 175th Field Artillery Battalion - 34th Division when it is believed he died from a non-battle-related injury. It is thought that Jacobsen had served with Battery "C" - 175th Field Artillery back in November 1942 in Tunisia (North Africa) but it it is not known if this was the same man, and if he was still with Battery "C" when he died. Jacobsen is buried at the American cemetery at Nettuno, Italy. Jacobsen may have a marker in a Minnesota cemetery though. This information will be used to help complete the listings of wartime death casualties for units of the 34th Division. These listings can be viewed at the webpage address below. http://34thdivdeathcasualties.homestead.com/homepage.html
