The funeral was held Sat. Jan. 29 from St. Mary's Catholic church in Chokio & burial was made in the church cemetery. Mr. Dreis, oldest son of Frank & Mary Brockman Dries, pioneer settlers of near Vermillion was born & reared at Vermillion. He was married to Mary Pickar of Wadena in Jan. 1900 & following their wedding trip the couple made their home on a farm near Chokio. Mrs. Dreis passed away 26 yrs ago. Surviving Mr. Dreis are 5 children, Capt. Frank Dreis in railroad service in Africa, Julia [Geo] Dye of Oklahoma City, OK., Marie [Dennis] Marlow, Charles, & Jerome of Chokio. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren 3 brothers, Henry, J.P. & Jacob of Vermillion. & 2 sisters, Josephine of Vermillion, Justine [Nicholas] Fusenig of St. Paul. Those attending the funeral from this community were Henry, J. P. & Josephine Dries of Vermillion, John F. Dreis of Hastings, Anthony & Kathryn Dreis of St. Paul.
