Talk about bringing back memories! Thanks, Michael, for posting this information about So. St. Paul High School in 1938. Although I was only 6 years old at the time, I recognize many names from the staff and faculty who were still there when I attended SSPHS in 1947 and 1949 (I was in Germany with my father in 1948 and moved to Texas in 1949 so I did not graduate from SSPHS). Also recognized many names of students, several who later became teachers at the high school. One in particular, Kathryn McAuliff, Class of '38, taught me History. Conrad Hinderks, Class of '38, was my best friend Joey Hinderks' older brother who was killed in action in Europe during WWII. I have vivid memories of being in the Hinderks home when the telegram arrived informing Mr. and Mrs. Hinderks of Connie's death.

Surnames: Jacobsen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UGB.2ACE/628 Message Board Post: Would like more information on a Dakota County veteran who died in Italy during WWII. Would like to know the Battery of the 175th Field Artillery to which Jacob E. Jacobsen was assigned when he died on May 14, 1944. Jacobsen (Army Serial Number 37 026 560) was serving as a staff sergeant (S/Sgt.) with the 175th Field Artillery Battalion - 34th Division when it is believed he died from a non-battle-related injury. It is thought that Jacobsen had served with Battery "C" - 175th Field Artillery back in November 1942 in Tunisia (North Africa) but it it is not known if this was the same man, and if he was still with Battery "C" when he died. Jacobsen is buried at the American cemetery at Nettuno, Italy. Jacobsen may have a marker in a Minnesota cemetery though. This information will be used to help complete the listings of wartime death casualties for units of the 34th Division. These listings can be viewed at the webpage address below. http://34thdivdeathcasualties.homestead.com/homepage.html
