Surnames: Mahoney Hennessy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UGB.2ACE/653.1 Message Board Post: You're right - you need to know which county. Some ideas, which you may have tried already: 1. Searching census record index info to locate the family, which would lead you to the county. 2. Birthplace sometimes is found on death certificates and marriage licenses, or in an obituary. I am searching for information in Dakota County, and found that birth records weren't kept by that county until 1870. This may vary by county. 3. Any information on occupation of his father and reading up on MN history might lead you to a general area, which would narrow your search. Good luck.

    3. Forwarded for your information. Tom Wilde, MNDAKOTA Listmanager ----------------------------------------- http://www.historicaloregon.org/ This is a new site that has been started by a group called Historical Oregon Information Services. It is a non-profit group to help individuals and groups access information about Oregon and it's history. Our site includes free services such as "look-ups" on Oregon, newsletter and a guest book. We also have books at low prices covering Oregon cemeteries, Oregon towns and World War II. At Historical Oregon Information Services we hope that this may be of some use to members of your group. Our "Look-Ups" on Oregon page covers towns, rail stops, ferries, stage stops, hard rock mines and schools as well as other types of places in the state of Oregon. In the future we will have cemeteries also listed. In most cases we have included any of the above listed items that pertain to the location name. This, however, is an ongoing project and updating our files is being done constantly. Under the name of the location, in most cases, we have the county in which it is located, Post office, Rail Road, location and any pertinent information regarding the location name. Our newsletter is sent out bi-weekly and has information pertaining to Oregon and its history. In the newsletter we cover such things as name changes, multiple places with the same name, postal changes, new links, information about a place and other pertinent information about groups and their activities. We have link pages on genealogy and Oregon history. These links are listed in alphabetical order under appropriate headings. There are pages for genealogy and Oregon history with more headings to come in the future. At Historical Oregon Information Services we would also like to include any information regarding web pages, meetings and e-mail services pertaining to your group. We would be happy to include any of this information in our newsletter and or link pages for anyone that is interested. Thank you for your valuable time. We hope that this site can be of some benefit to you and or your group members in the event that any questions about Oregon arise. We hope to hear from you or anyone in your group, if you have any need for information on Oregon, in the future. Thanks again.
