    3. The new home for the Dakota county list is ready to go. In a few minutes, I'll send out personal invitations to the subscribers of this list who wish to join the new group will be able to do so. I can not add members directly. It should be a link you can click that will let you 'accept' the invitation to join the new group. You may need to check your spam folder as I can't say when such will be delivered. If you don't find an invitation in your email you may also go to this site - https://groups.io/g/MN-DAKOTA and select Join Group. Of course, folks may still post to this list through 3/1. Author: katiehenrick Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.dakota/1464/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am hitting a brick wall on finding where in Luxembourg my ggrandfather and his brother immigrated from. Peter eventually settled in Superior WI, Micheal in MPLS MN. Micheal's find a grave index says that his father was Michal Fonck. How do I find records from Luxembourg? Peter lists often that he was from Germany, although his papers say Luxembourg. Any ideas? Thank you! Katie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: pullbamm Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.dakota/646.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Jim, Thank you for setting up a Find a Grave entry for James Dempsey Jr. I appreciate it. I am the one that found the obits for James Junior and James Senior after locating the death notice in the St. Paul paper on his death at work. I contacted the Dakota County Historical Society for them. The Dakota County Historical Society was very helpful. James Sr along with his wife Catherine are also buried in Bellwood. Unfortunately the cemetery was hit by vandals and most of the headstones are gone now. I contacted the cemetery custodian and was told that no records remain due to the fact that the church burned to the ground many years ago. We were wanting to place replacement stones on the graves but without that info our hands are tied. Just wish I could find another Dempsey family member to collaborate with. I have found land grants for other Dempsey family members but don't have census records to back them up. Last summer I did visit the McGuire graves in the Catholic cemetery in Hastings. Thank you for connecting the dots for me with Delia. Next year I want to get up to the Twin Cities to visit her in person. I believe your James Dempsey Sr is the father of the James Dempsey that married my 2X Great Aunt Delia McGuire. I don't have much information on James Dempsey Sr, but I do have a little on the son. Most of what I have is included on Findagrave (including his obit). I do see that the Obit, which is from Oct 1895, mentions that James Dempsey Sr had only passed away "about a year ago". Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. http://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Dempsey&GSfn=James&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=25&GScntry=4&GSob=n&GRid=131451746&df=all& Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: james_gallery19 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.dakota/784.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Distant Cousin Therese, You and I spoke a good number of years ago while you were in the process of completing a Dimmers Family Tree. You were looking for the "missing link " of John Peter Dimmers who is my Grandfather. I was able to supply some information and you sent me a copy of the section that includes my immediate family (which is safely hiding somewhere that i packed it when I moved to all places---Wisconsin!!! Uff-da)! Tonight the Spirit moved me to explore the Dimmers name. I began with typing in Grandfather's name and a plethora of information pooped onto the screen thrilling me quite a lot! I saw those handsome photographs of him which look identical to some I have of Dad at that age. There is a strong family resemblance that runs through all the men in my family. We all have what I call, "the Dimmers' mole," which is on the left side of the nose on the cheek and one on the right upper lip hidden in our mustaches. I think I could detect one on our Great G! reat Grandfather in Holland too. We definitely look like him., Grandfather, Dad, both my brothers and I. Therese, there are some big status changes in our family now. My precious brother Raleigh died 4 days after last Christmas. Perhaps that is why I was looking at Dimmers' history. It is December already and the month he departed. There will be a lot of days ahead where I will ache for Raleigh and his fabulous sense of humor, his gentle loving presence, his finely honed manners of a true gentleman. My Big Brother was definitely someone I looked up to and now without him to chat on the phone several times daily I have a huge hole in my life that no one can ever fill. I so believe in God's Promises that we meet again. Life would not be worth living were it not so. Please feel free to call anytime you'd like, 715-294-2934, or email as you wish, IF you wish.I would appreciate a website to the Family Geneaology (SP?) you created if it is possible. I want to send you my website address so you can get an idea of what I do too, (Why can't I spell geneaology)? Georgia O'Keefe couldn't spell worth a hoot and she didn't fare too badly so I'll relax but it sure is embarrassing at times. www.jameswilcoxdimmers.com I hope this reaches you. Not being computer savvy it took some doing simply to get it to let me find where I could write the message in the first place! The pictures of our ancestors I saw tonight have me breathless. Greta Aunt Lena will be on my inner eye from now on. To see the faces of those who share our bloodline somehow is a closing of the circle of life again, a certain security I find comforting. And, Therese, I had no idea we had so many relatives! Is Great Aunt Rose your Grandmother? ho is your mother? In our childhood Dad and I stopped to visit her in New Richmond a number of times when we were fishing at a lake near there, Great Aunt Clara was a household name too. Mom always spoke highly of her. Well, I hope all this babbling does not put you off, I am 68 now and getting to be a even more chatty old man, one of the perks for making it this far so far! Plus our branch of the Dimmers clan has some splendid story-tellers. Rarely a dull moment! Wishing you a fine December and lovely meaningful Christmas Season, I believe we are second cousins, Therese, so I shall close with... Cheers, Cousin Jim James Dimmers 125- Depot Road, PO Box #366 Osceola. Wis. 54020 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
