What I do find is confusing. Brainerd papers have a Lillian married to an Art Schwendeman. And a Freda married to a Leonard Schwendeman... I will type things up and leave them for you to sort out. I can't figure it out without more information: There is a mention in a Brainerd, MN, paper from 1948 that Leonard SCHWENDEMAN and daughter Lois visited Floyd Johnson in Ironton, MN. It says they live in Escanaba, Michigan. July 25, 1935 Brainerd Daily Dispatch, Brainerd MN -- says Mrs. Leonard Schwendeman of Escanaba, Mich., attended a dance at Ft. Ripley. November 21, 1960 Brainerd, an obituary for a Mrs. Hackett lists a daughter, Mrs. Art (Lillian) Schwendeman of Brainerd. September 7, 1962, Brainerd. "Mrs. Schwendeman Dies at Home -- Word has been received here by relatives and friends of the death of Mrs. Leonard (Freda) Schwendeman who died Sunday at her home in Puyullop [sic. should be Puyallup] Wash. Burial will be at Escanaba, Mich. Mrs. Schwendeman's husband is a former Brainerd resident. The 1930 census has two Leonard Schwendemans: one in Brainerd, born 1874 in Ohio, widowed, sons Glen and John; a second Leonard (married to a Freda),was born in 1901 in Minnesota and living in Escanaba, Michigan. This Freda was born in Michigan, father Michigan, mother Wisconsin. 1930 Milltown, New Jersey, has an Arthur and Lillian Schwendeman, husband and wife, both born New Jersey, with brother-in-law William FOLK living with them. Lillian and William's parents were born in Germany. WW1 draft registration card for Crow Wing County, MN: Leonard Anton Schwendeman, age 44, born Nov. 13, 1873. Wife's name is Lila. Is this the correct husband and wife? It would make Lillian, born 1900, 27 years younger than her husband... are these the parents of "your" Leonard?
