The names seem to be Borders or Bordens. I message I sent a few minutes ago did not send. So will repeat it. I have a picture of a collapsed bridge. It was built about 1916 over a narrows in Long Lake. It went down in 1917 due to the ice break-up. Prior to that time people would ford this narrows in wagons and even cars. I know it was a harrowing trip because my Grandmother told of going over it in 1916 in a car. On the back of the picture I have seen is writen, "The Borders (Borden)Family drowned at this crossing while trying to ford, in 1900. Missed the shallows in the dark and the storm . The wagon box floated and the baby was found alive in it." I did search the death notices for that time frame (before and after) at the Crow wing County Court House and didn't find the deaths of any multiple family members. Of any name. This narrows can be seen from highway #371 going north from Brainerd to Nisswa. Land is not visable but the you can tell where it would have been between two points of land in Long Lake. It is very shallow yet today. In the 1900 census there is record of Joel and Liddie Borders who live in the area of the narrows. Hope I haven't just confused your issue. Good luck.
