Dear List: My kids noticed a lot of death cert requests on another list (we share an email address). So........they started pulling death certs a few weeks ago for the Hennepin County List I'm on. My kids pull them at the Minnesota Historical Society (http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm) and I am taking care of the email interface, all copy costs, sending them out, etc. [I don't want them to get sent to the wrong people or wrong address.] By the way, the Historical Society will pull them for you but charges $8 each (they have to pay the employees). We are willing to do this for people on this list but cannot guarantee when we will go next. It is a 35-45 min drive from our home and MHS parking charges are by the hour, so we are asking for $2.50/death cert. We do ask people to send payment and a SASE before we go and copy the certs. This will get the certs to people much more quickly since I will be able to mail them as soon as we get them. When I started this, I was worried that the database wasn't always accurate but it seems to be very reliable. If anyone on this list is interested: - Please send the name, county, date of death, and death cert ID # for each death cert from the MHS database. - Please put the words "Request for Minnesota Death Cert" in the subject line of your email. - Let me know if you are in Canada or another foreign country. - Please send the requests to us off-list so we don't clutter up the list. I will respond to each email so people are not left wondering, so please do not request it from me and someone else at the same time. Thank you. Carol & kids

Does anyone know the numbers for township, range and section for Crosby? I'm would like to read the Crosby census for 1900 and 1910, but the townships aren't all named, some of the films just give the numbers. Or, if someone knows the district numbers for Crosby, that would work too. Hello veterans and newbies of the rootsweb. There are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 259 prisoners on record from the state of Minnesota and more than 100 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides as well as all Americans who gave their freedoms for those that we enjoy today.. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Please visit my website dedicated to those Americans who were imprisoned and died in captivity while in the service to our country Kevn Frye Local Andersonville Historian / National Park Service Volunteer http://www.angelfire.com/ga2/Andersonvilleprison/index.html AOL USERS go to http://hometown.aol.com/andersonvillecw/
