Does anyone have access to the 1885 Minnesota state census that could do a lookup for me? I am looking for Gustaf and Ingrid BOLIN and their family in Franconia. Lynne Frizzell Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Hi Listers, I am new to the list and would like to hear from anyone researching the above names in Chisago County. Thank you, Janet
According to Earl Leafs last book on Swedes of Chisago County on page 89 Gustaf J and Ingrid K Bolin Gustaf was born 16 Mar 1835 and died 26 Oct 1927 wife Ingrid is born 14 Aug 1842 and died 27 Sept 1916 they are buried in Kahbakong cemetery in Taylors Falls they are in the 1895 census in Franconia and had been there 12 years 8 months also in the 1895 census is Mary 13 and Eddy 11, which means they arrived in Franconia probably in 1882, if that is also the year they immigrated according to the census you could have a look up on one of the swedes lists for the emigrantan CD and see if they are listed there. I am sure you will find them in the 1900, 1910, 1920 census and can get on interlibrary loan the 1885 and 1905 and 1915 census of Chisago County and look them up there. another idea would be to get on interlibrary loan the newspapers of the area and read them and see if they are mentioned in there anywhere, undoubtedly at least their obit would be there. 52 -0700 Subject: BOLIN, Franconia Message-ID: <MABBJGJGJBJNBDHJKENPOEOECJAA.lynnef@telusplanet.net> I am researching the family of Gustaf and Ingrid BOLIN who emigrated from Sweden and settled in Franconia in 1882. Eldred is also the Eldridge family, so perhaps you should check with the Eldridge family name group. someone there might be able to help, ELDRIDGE-D-request@rootsweb.com or ELDRIDGE-L-request@rootsweb.com Have you checked the 1920 and 30 census. You have no dates for your great grandfather, which would help pinpoint his age and help in looking for the right man.. How old was he when he died during pearl harbor and was he a sailor or military or was he just an innocent bystander. Have you checked with the military records bureau in St Louis? If he is from Iowa why are you writing to a Chisago, Minnesota group? sue team On 20 Feb 2003 23:47:30 -0700 kalalani_95@yahoo.com writes: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Eldred > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGB.2ACE/75 > > Message Board Post: > > My name is Jennifer, I am the grandaughter of Katherine Hoke > Kuwasaki. Dear List, I have made a copy for myself of the 1914 Chisago County plat map and am willing to do some lookups. The book also contains a directory of farmers for each township, which includes names of family members and length of residence in the county. Not all farmers are listed, but if you're lucky, it s a great find. If you want a lookup, I need to know which township you are looking in because there is no general index. My gggrandfather was William Wolf born 1840 in Holstein, Germany. He came to America in 1857 with his brother, sister, and father. He first came to Stillwater, Minnesota then settled in Sunrise. He join the Minnesota 1st Artillery during the Civil War. His brother Fredrick and father stayed in Chisago County. William came home and married Johanne Winges. Fredrick became the postmaster in Harris. I was also told that Fredrick went to school and was one of only a few that were white the rest were Indian. Looking for any stories about this family Thanks Laurie

I am still working on the descendents but have quite a bit at this time that I will gladly share also. Two of Delia's siblings, John and Lizzie, took Ayers as their Anglicized name. I do not have Lizzie's Indian name but John's was Mis-se-el (Snowball). I am descended from Delia's sister O-sah-ga (Mary), my great-great grandmother. Frederic and Elizabeth Ayers are not in any way related but were the educators of Delia, Mary and I believe coupe more. There connection was primarily a religious one, save the soul, and apparently the family highly respected them. I took notice in the census records that Mary (O-sah-ga) could read and write while her Scotch/English husband could not. That was a rather unique twist. I have found no records to date listing the names of students of the Ayers. I can be contacted for info at friend@2z.net

We call it the Sterling, Laketown and Eureka Historical society. That covers the three northwest townships in the area. So far we are collecting whatever historical documents and pictures we can find. Some we get and some we copy. Sterling township is going to be 150 years old in 2005, and we hope to be able to publish something by then. Polk County is celebrating 150 years this year. It has been very interesting! I have been reading the microfilm versions of old newspapers from the area and visiting with many of the older people in the area.

Wallmark, just for fun and your web site eventually made its way on to my computor. I have always known that I was Swedish on my dads side in fact we have a family tree book that I believe says we come from Swedish Royalty, I would love to talk to someone with the last name of Wallmark and see if we are truely related, it would stand to reason though for here that is a very unusual name, if your a Wallmark then you are related to me. I recently lost my dad and mom, they both died last year within 9 months of each other, but at least they are together again, they shared a true love story, married for 54 years and always happy, I have 5 brothers and sisters and a very large family consisting of 7 other of my dads brothers and sisters (wallmarks) and then there is a load of 1st cousins and so on. We are a very big and CLOSELY KNIT CLAN. Anyway I hope to hear from another Wallmark very soon so we can touch base.

No Olsin/Aslin in the Isanti county cemetery records but not all cemeteries are read. Also none in the cemetery records of Chisago county, but there are Oslunds and Aslunds would be a normal Americanization of the name. Some of these bios are on the web somewhere, I saw them. Will have to check, maybe if you put the name of the person into google search engine, you can find what is on the web with the name you are searching for.
