    3. There is an Johan Alfred Swenson in Minnesota in the 1870's and he keeps showing up on the things I am finding. But did find a naturalization record for a Johan Alfred Swenson. It was in Sterns county, Minnesota when he was naturalized, these records are on microfilm at the Minnesota Historical Society. It may not be your Johan Alfred but then again it might be. code 19 page 118, peel 6 vol V operation Conra time 9:40 date 8 Feb 1996 which has nothing to do with the naturalization record, but has to do with when it was typed into the data base I think, I looked and looked for Ovar but did not find anyone with that name, was he born in America and died in America or was he born and died in Sweden or Norway. The Johan that has the below social security is suppose to be born 12 Nov 1906 and died in Oct 1978. I do not find him in any census anywhere in 1930 and there are no further records open to read at this point. I did not find Ovars death record in Minnesota, but if the 12 Nov 1906 man who died in Washington state is the right one, he did get his social security papers in Minnesota, so had to be there when he got them, which may have been anytime before he died, but probably before 1951. Sorry there is not much more available where I am, but someone closer to the Minnesota Historical Society or someone who could read the obit in Washington, could see if it mentions any other children, where they are and other surviving members, Might even give some of his life so you know where to search. So if someone could search in Forest Lake Washington area for an obit, that might be your best bet on getting information on this John Alfred and to see if it is the right one. Surnames: SWENSON SVENSSON ARNQUIST Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGB.2ACE/80 Message Board Post: Daniel S. ARNQUIST, probably originally named SVENSSON, born 21 Sep 1850 in Sweden (where?) died 3 Dec 1941 Minneapolis, appears to have come to Chisago County with a brother, as newspaper item for Nov. 1894 mentions a niece, Amanda SWENSON, and says her parents lived "two miles west of here" -- probably meaning two miles west of Lindstrom. She was committed to the insane asylum at Fergus Falls in 1894 (that was the newspaper item) and may have died there in 1909. If any of this sounds familiar, I would dearly like to know where Daniel Svensson Arnquist was born in Sweden and name of any relatives who emigrated to the US with him.

    3. Earl Leaf in his latest book, mentions the David Arnquists and Anna Lisa his wife, He also says that the 1895 census reveals that davids name in Sweden is Swednson. There is a Carl Daniel who is his son who is buried inWest Green Lake Cemetery. He says there was apparently another Carl Daniel Theodore that died in 1885 and is buired in the same cemetery. David married the daughter of Otto Wallmark, so there should be a lot of info on them somewhere. He was married 20 Oct 1877. Have you checked the 1900 census to see when they came to America, the date should be there, and if you know who the people were that might have come with him, he might be found on the emigrantan CD which some people are kind enough to do lookups,. go to www.jerrylongstrom and check emigrantan CD. There is a lot of other information there about searching Swedish ancestors. But you have to do you homework in America before going to Sweden. But then he quotes Laurie of England, so you may already have all this information. sue On 8 Apr 2003 17:40:00 -0600 l.s.keller@open.ac.uk writes: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: SWENSON SVENSSON ARNQUIST > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGB.2ACE/80 > > Message Board Post: > > Daniel S. In return I would like to return the favor.... I have a number of photos, postcards, and letters that were saved by my gg grandmother Erickson; she and her family resided in Rush City from 1900 to about 1914 when she moved to St. Paul. A number of her siblings did stay in Rush City, and nearby Grantsburg, WI. I would love some public forum to post these pictures so everyone with an interest in Rush City or Grantsburg could make a copy, or maybe even identify mystery photos (which there are many). Is there some website for this purpose, specific to Chisago County? Thanks, Mark Smith

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Erickson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RGB.2ACE/78 Message Board Post: Greetings, Thanks to Carol-Jean Boevers, I had finally identified the Free Mission Cemetery NW of Rush City as the resating place of John Erickson (1839-1899), wife Marie (1842-1925) and son Robert (1874-1915) amoing others. I went on a cold Saturday morning two weeks ago to the beautiful little cemetery off a dirt road, 530th ave. I searched the entire cemetery, found two Erickson plots (1 old tombstone in Swedish) but they were not mine. Problem was, there was snow on the ground- covering about 1/4 of the area. I could have stepped right over a ground marker and not known it. I was very disappointed, as the obituary from the 1899 and 1925 paper's specifically state the Free Mission Cemetery by the Oline farm- and I readily found the Oline plots! I will go back in the summer at some point...but if someone lives close, and would be willing to take a nice Spring afternoon walk to the cemetery and take a peek for the Erickson's listed above, I would be very grateful. My email is msmith@fanbuzz.com or marksmith1@attbi.com if you would like directions or more info. Thanks everyone. Mark Smith

I'm a descendant of Andrew P. Wallmark who settled in Minnesota territory with his brother Otto in 1854. (There are no living descendants of either brother with the name Wallmark ... it was only the girls who produced children!) Do you know anything further about your Wallmark grandparents or great grandparents? I have information on the Wallmark family from Halland (south western) Sweden, but there is at least one other Wallmark Swedish family in the US (from Umeå), one Swedish-speaking Finnish Wallmark family, and a few from places as far apart as Germany, Russia and even Syria!
