In Brown county I am researching the Heinrich HAMMER (1820- ) family and the Frederich William KIESLING (1829-1912) families from New Ulm. Heinrich Hammer wrote several letters in German back to his family in Germany about the 1862 Indian uprising and other subjects. I haven't yet requested them via interlibrary loan, but I'll be persuing that at some point. I'm excited to see what they contain and have a friend orginally from Germany ready to translate them for me.
