    1. [MN-BROWN COUNTY] Re: Was there a "Leona Hotel" in Sleepy Eye, MN abt. 1925
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HGB.2ACE/128.2 Message Board Post: I have a book in my possession called "Journey 1872-2000". The book has short biographical sketches of families in Sleepy Eye and the surrounding area. It also has pictures of businesses, churches, schools, banks etc., old and new , in Sleepy Eye. The only hotel I see listed is one called "The Lake House, first hotel in Sleepy Eye, built in 1872 by Christian Emmerich. It was a white frame building and stood on the corner of 1st Ave. N. and Main Street until 1932 when the Sleepy Eye Fire Department condemned the building and had it pulled into the intersection of Main and 1st Ave. and burned it to the ground. A brick building was built in its place and housed a general store, later a drug store and lunch counter and various offices on the second floor. In the family biographies of this book is a family picture and short biography of the family of Xavier Seidl. Their are 13 children in the family and one of them is named Mary. She married Henry Stelzer. Is this your ancestor? Just thought I'd pass this information along just in case. [email protected]
