The Leona Hotel did exist in Sleepy Eye at one time, run by Joseph Sandhoefner and his wife, who was a Beyer. They were, I think, originally from New Ulm. The Leona Hotel was located across the railroad tracks from the Sleepy Eye Depot, now the Depot Museum. The former hotel is now known as Jerry's Bar. Joseph Sandhoefner's son and daughter are still in Sleepy Eye, retired. They both worked at and ran the hotel and bar. If you would like an address or phone number, please e-mail me.
