Pam, The GAR refers to Grand Army of the Republic. I suggest going to this site: browncountyhistorymnusa.org and contact them about the organization. From what I can see it was probably a ladies organization attached to the GAR, which was an organization of men who were Union veterans of the Civil War. Bob
