But, I believe that we are "second cousins - once removed"...!!! I sent an email earlier this evening and then went to check on the dates - there are THREE "Herman's" and I was confused - sorry! Your grandfather (Herman P. Fortwengler - b. Jan. 29, 1878 - d. May 19, 1957) and my grandmother (Josephine Hoessle-Fortwengler - b. Sept. 26, 1876 - d. Jan. 26, 1943) were siblings...!!!!!!!!!!! His father (your g-grandfather) was also Herman (b. Feb.2, 1848 - d. Feb. 13, 1903). From Heimling Co. of Nuarenberg, the Province of Hanover in Germany. Married Katherine Shellert (b. Jun. 20, 1850 - d. Aug. 6, 1941) from Nuenkirchen, Wittenbruck Prussia. His father (your g-g-grandfather) was Nicholas (d. 1885) Married Margaret Farnhorst. The "George" Fortwengler you mention below is George Louis Fortwengler (b. Sept. 30, 1913) still living in Louisville, KY. Coincidentally (!!!!!!!!!!!), *HIS* son, also named George, lives just a few miles from me here in Virginia.....!!!! I have a written history of the Fortwengler Family written by Helen Fortwengler-McGarry in 1980 that I could photo copy and send your way.....? Thanks! [email protected]
