    1. PHOTOS FROM BROWN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
    2. Hi All, I just got an e-mail from Darla Gebhard who is a research librarian at the Brown County Historical Society. I had written asking about obtaining copies of the photographs they have in their Family Files. Here is what she said: "Pictures can be ordered from the family files. We use a color copy system and the cost is $4 per 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. We will fit as many photos on a sheet as possible. Enlargements can also be made, but the cost is $6 per sheet and only one photo can be on a sheet. The Web Site lists the sir name and then in most cases, the first name of the oldest male ancestor that immigrated over. This does not mean there is a photo of that person. If you see a YES to photos, it just means there are photos in the file. We can give you a list of the photos if you wish. Xeroxes of photos can also be sent for 25 cents per sheet. The $10 shipping and handling fee would still apply for each order." Someone hold me back, I can't wait to spend my money! The e-mail address to inquire about pictures & files is different than the Historical Society's Web Site. This is where I went: [email protected] Are we having fun now, or what? Nancy V.

    3. Hi Nancy Thanks for the update on this ... However, I just see one thing that has me curious, and that is that they ask a "$10.00" shipping & handling fee" ... in addition to the cost for each copy/sheet order ... even if there's just ONE copy/sheet in the order?? 1. BROWN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
    2. I just received my current issue of the Brown County Historical Society Newsletter in the mail. Finally their web-site is on-line. They have an alphabetical listing of 5,500 Family Files that are available for research, and mailing of copies. I found almost every surname I was interested in, including many photos of specific people (though you can't see them). I don't know yet if they will make copies of photos, but I'm going to find out. The web-site address is: http://BrownCountyHistoryMNUSA.org. They still have some glitches on their site, and I could not immediately get there. If you have problems, try going to the NewUlmMN site and click on "Entertainment". Nancy V.

    2. Edward Arthur Miller
    3. Posted on: Brown Co. Mn Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Mn/Brown/10033 Surname: miller, muller, mueler, thomas ------------------------- Am seeking information on the family of Henry Miller or Mueller/Muller that married Mary Thomas. At one time they lived on Sleepy Eye, then New Ulm in Brown County MN. They had, to the best of my knowledge, 4 children, Marcella, Veronica, Florence, and Arthur George. I am the son of Arthur. I have very little information but it is believed that Henry or Mary or both immagrated from Germany.I know that miller is spelled correctly but am not sure about Muller or Mueller. Any information would be great. Thanks

    2. Shannon Reuss
    3. Dear Nancy, Thank you for your look-up offer regarding the Indian massacre/Sioux uprising books. My Beussmann ancestors were in the New Ulm area at the time. The heads of households were J.D. Beussmann and H.H. Beussman (brothers). It has been passed down in the family that JD and his family had one of the only brick houses in New Ulm at that time, but were forced to flee to Wisconsin during the uprising and when they returned the house was in smoldering ruins. Also somewhere there is a firsthand account by Anna Beussman Quense of her experience in the uprising when she was 10. Anything you find will be appreciated. Thanks, Shannon Reuss

    1. 1862 SIOUX UPRISING
    2. I have copies of 3 books concerning the Minnesota Massacre in 1862: INDIAN MASSACRE IN MINNESOTA OVER THE EARTH I COME THE SIOUX UPRISING IN MINNESOTA - 1862 These books contain many survivors first hand accounts, and many, many names of families you might be interested in. I would be happy to do look-ups. Also, Park Genealogical Books ([email protected]), has copies of the Sioux Depredation Case Files for sale. If you send them $1 they will send you a list of all the casefiles they have (by name). In 1863 the government took the remaining anuity money still due the Sioux and gave it to survivors who filed claims for damages. Each file contains an affidavit stating the person's property losses, and what happened to themselves & family during the uprising. I wasn't able to find the family I was looking for, but being there were 2,500 claims made, perhaps you will be lucky. Nancy V.

    2. Hi, I'm Nancy Vetrano from Sonoma County, CA. I'm researching family in the Lake Hanska/Sleepy Eye/Albin Township/Stark Township area. They are: .....ANDERSON/ANDERSDATTER.....BRUCKBAUER.....HAGEN.....LARSON..... .....OUREN.....RASCHKO/RASKO.....and.....SELLNER I'm particularly interested in information regarding the Minnesota Unitarian Conversion Movement in the 1860s. I want to find out what the attraction was about Unitarianism that caused my great grandparents CASPER LARSON and OLEANA ANDERSDATTER LARSON to renounce the Lutheranism of Norway. My great grandfather built the first, and second Unitarian Church in Hanska.
