I am looking for information on the wife and children of Peter Joseph Schmitz' first marriage. From his obituary, it indicates that he had a wife who died during the Indian uprising. In 1864 he married Henirette Buggert. Peter Joseph was born on August 25, 1824. I am from the Herniette Buggert line from her first husband Freidrich William Ludwig Buggert who also died in the Indian Uprising. However, I would like to find out more of her second husbands family. sincerely, Pamela Kebis

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HGB.2ACE/77.1 Message Board Post: I am researching the Vogelpohl name also. My father-in-law came from New Ulm, MN. He and his brother and their father, Herman, Ernest, and Herman, were organ builders and tuners. There are Vogelpohl organs out there somewhere! If you are interested in exchanging info, please contact me. We can take it from there. I have many names, no info. I planned to write to the Brown Co. Historical Society, to see what they had. Right now, I haven't gone too far with the Vogelpohl line, since I have been concentrating on my mother and dads descendants.
Does anyone know where I could get a picture of the Kiesling house? Is there a good picture on the web? I am putting together a book for my relatives for Christmas and would love to have a good picture of the family home. Thanks, Jodi

I saw this on a "users group" site ... it might be useful to some of you .... "Unknown birth dates can be estimated by using known birth dates of other family members. This is the formula that professional genealogists use to estimate birth dates for when you don't know the birth date. . Precede estimated birth year with "Abt or Est" Estimate the father's birth year by: subtracting 26 years from birth year of first child. .... OR subtracting 4 years from birth year of wife .... OR by subtracting 25 years from marriage year. Estimate the mother's birth year by: subtracting 22 years from birth year of first child .... OR adding 4 years to birth year of husband ... OR by subtracting 21 years from marriage year Estimate birth year of other children by: adding 2 years to birth year of previous child If birth date of child is unknown: Add 25 years to birth year of father ... Does any one know where the early records for Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Mankato are located? They served the the New Ulm area in the very early years as a mission church. They are not found in the LDS catalog for Mankato and I am not sure which diocese would have the records, (Winona or St. Paul) Jane White
