These have been extracted from courthouse records & Church Records... I have put the sources on the link, and will tell you which books/films have been extracted. If it is not done, then you can order the film from a FHL for the incomplete years... (and NOT order the film that has been extracted and inserted into the IGI... Also, this is a great way to research your family's collateral lines and their kids...) here is my personal homepage URL... http://groups.msn.com/GENEALOGYGENERAL/index.msnw THEN, click on the State (on the sidebar) and click on the county of interest... happy hunting, bye dave. ps: please let me know if you find a bad link...also check on "What's New" to see what is done & what I am currently extracting....

In case you hadnt seen yet, Ancestory.com has the Minnesota Death Index from the years 1997-2002 online. I am on Ancestry.com daily and only just accidentally stumpled on this yesterday. It is great. Besides the info the Minnesota Historical society provides for the years 1954-1996, it also provides the birth town and state, and the actual death city. I really like the birth town as I now know where to go to research further information. In many instances, I only had state. Pam Kebis
Hello everyone, I am new to this list and am looking for advice on cemeteries in New Ulm. I have just recently obtained death certificates which show place of burial as New Ulm - no specific cemetery name. I looked on the yellow pages listings for cemeteries in New Ulm and found none. These burials took place about 100 years ago. The people are of German ancestry and probably belonged to an Evangelical Lutheran Church. They had previously lived in Courtland, Nicollet Co. (1870) and I do not know when they moved to Brown Co - just that the death certs indicate burial there. Does anyone know how I could find cemetery information for the New Ulm area? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide, Anne Researching AHLENSTORF, ASCHE
Donnetta, You did not say that you have looked at the marriage records in Brown County, a possibly logical first place to start looking. Where were the Zuelke's living in 1900? Very frequently, couples were married at the home of the bride. Searching marriage records are somewhat of a crap shoot as you generally need to look at each county of interest where they would have likely filed for the license. And even in those days, people traveled to get married as they do today. Another scenario: My grandfather lived in Kandiyohi County, my grandmother in Swift County, when they were married in Chippewa County according to the marriage record. The marriage license was taken out in Kandiyohi County, but could just as easily have been taken out in Swift, or even Chippewa. Other couples eloped to Canada. Hi Kaye, 1860 MN Census for Nicollet County, Traverse Township (near the Minnesota River north of Mankato) Louis Laramie married Tatodoota/Tateduta/Red Wind/Mary Red Iron by Father Augustine Ravoux around 1842 Mendota, MN. Mary was Sisseton/Wahpeton Indian (two of the seven Santee Tribes (Eastern Sioux) of MN) Children were Rosalie, Josephine Allaine, Louisa, Edward, and Narcisse McNeal (all marked as Indian on 1860 census records) Rosalie is my greatgreat grandmother whose records I have and her sister Louisa`s records. I going after Edward right now. After the Sisseton and Wahpeton were put on there reservation on the ND/SD/MN border Edward became a Indian Scout at Fort Wadsworth which was torn down and put back up three times between the three state borders, ending up near Sisseton, then renamed Fort Sisseton. That`s the last record I`ve got on Edward. Rosalie died in the Twin Cities and Louisa in Nicollet County, don`t know if the other kids went with the Indians or stayed in MN. Thanks Patrick
Hi List Members, Looking for all Laramie/Laramee/Laramey/ect. census records for MN, SD, and ND, all first names and dates available. (Indian/White/Mixed Blood) Thanks Patrick.

I have been tracing my Karl WITTMAN / WHITMAN line for a while now and have, in the last few days, discovered a connection to New Ulm. The family immigrated in 1880, according to U.S. census records and church records in Germany. The first record I have of them in the U.S. is 1888 in Elgin, IL (marriage of son William). I have not been able to gleen any information on the missing eight years until reading John's (brother to William) obituary dated 10 Feb 1944.. It said, ". . . he came to this country with his parents when he was 11 years old. The family settled in New Ulm, Minn., and Mr. Wittman was raised there. He left Minnesota . . . settling in LaGrange . . ." Census records show they are naturalized. So far, I have not been able to locate these records in Illinois. New Ulm seems a good bet. I've looked at some online information for Minnesota but have not seen a source for naturalization papers. Can anyone on this list give me push in the right direction? Also, has anyone run across a WITTMAN family in their research of New Ulm or surrounding areas? Thank you for your help. Sandy Demlow Fort Collins, CO
