[11 Jun 1832 - 1913] On Wednesday, Nov. 5th, occurred the death of Karl Birr at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Meyer, some miles southeast of Kasota. He had attained the advanced age of 81 years and 5 months, and had been suffering, during the past summer, with the usual complications of ailments attendant upon old age. The deceased was born in the province of Pommerin, Germany, on June 11, 1832, and was therefore a little over eighty-one years of age. In his younger days, Mr. Birr learned the trade of wagon making which he followed for a number of years. Later in life he decided to come to America and make a home for his growing family and in 1885 came to Minnesota, locating in Le Sueur county. Four years later he removed to Medo township, purchasing the farm of A. Guthier, where he lived a number of years respected by all, being a neighbor and friend in every sense of the word. He is survived by three sons and four daughters, namely; Oscar Birr of Medo, Charles Birr of Carlos, Douglas county, Herman Birr of Mapleton, Mrs. Mary Schull of Medo, Mrs. Otto Meyers of Mankato, Mrs. William Meyers of Kasota, and Mrs. William Hawker of Mapleton. A brother at Kasota and two sisters in New York, also remain to mourn the loss of a beloved brother. The remains were taken to Mapleton for burial, funeral Services being held at the German Lutheran church that place last Saturday afternoon. Mr. Birr. had made his home with his children after the death of his wife, eight years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Scwitzenberg and children and Ernest and Herman Birr, nephews of the deceased, attended the funeral. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
