It is hard to know where to begin with corrections. For one thing, the Wounded Knee massacre occurred on 28 December 1890, some 28 years AFTER the Dakota uprising!!! Some 303 Indians were convicted by the military tribunal in the 498 trials that were held. Those who were tried had been captured in Minnesota or had surrendered in Minnesota. They were not marched from Nebraska. President Lincoln reviewed these convictions and commuted the death sentences of those whom he found had not committed acts of warfare against the U.S. 39 were sentenced to death, with one granted a reprieve. Feelings in Minnesota were mixed, many settlers wanted the Indians punished for revenge, but also there those such as Episcopal Bishop Henry Whipple who publicly campaigned for leniency. These facts are well known from contemporary sources and later works, the interpretation you gave is not taught in schools because it is wrong.
